Dear friend,
I started LAY LO in a tiny garage in Santa Monica, surrounded by fabric swatches, half-finished covers, and a very patient dog who tested every prototype.
At the time, I was piecing together freelance work, leaving yet another “safe” job behind, and quietly wondering if choosing to build something of my own meant I’d completely lost the plot. All I knew was that I wanted life at home with our dogs to feel more beautiful, more intentional, and more connected.
I wanted products that felt at ease in a thoughtfully designed home. And I hoped that there were other people out there who felt the same.
Years later, we’re still small by many measures. But somehow this little idea born in a garage is helping support our family, keeps Drew and I working on something we genuinely love, and connects us with a community of people who care deeply about giving their dogs a better life at home—both in the way they’re raised and in the products they live with every day.
As I reflect on this past year, I find myself thinking back to those early months of working from our dining table, wondering if anyone would ever find us. And now here you are. Whether you’ve just joined us or have been with us for years, your support genuinely shapes what LAY LO can become.
Because of you, we get to keep growing. Slowly, thoughtfully, and with a lot of heart. And for that, I’m endlessly grateful.
I hope we can continue creating products and expert support that help you feel more at home with your dog, in all the ways that matter.
