It’s Tuesday, and normally I would be posting this week’s winner. But yesterday, in my town, at the grocery store I used to frequent as my own, ten people were murdered by a gunman. A police officer with 7 children died in the line of duty. People who were just buying their groceries, or going to work, were senselessly gunned down.
Every day, before my kid leaves for school I squeeze her as tight as I can and make sure she knows that I love her, because literally every day as she walks away, I hold my breath in fear that she won’t come home to me because of something like this.
When will the day come that we see sensible gun legislation? When will I be able to stop being hyper vigilant and scan for all my exits when I go into a public space?
Shame on the people who call this a liberal hoax to pass gun control. Shame on those who call Sandy Hook fake. Shame. Shame. Shame. Talk to me when it’s your kid, your parent, your town, your store, your community. I’m heartbroken, disgusted, afraid, and so so sad.
