The perfect post for the end of summer. This bedroom set has been lovingly been called the “Cape Cod “ set in honor of my clients Mom. She visited The Cape often in her life with her family and loved it so. Now her beautiful Rock maple set is refinished and will be used by her Great Granddaughter in her Grandparents home. I just love working on furniture with sentimental value attached. It makes it all the more special. I think she would be pleased to see it being used by such a special little girl.
Painted in the most gorgeous color called Artemisia. A beautiful Sagey green mineral paint. Then slightly distressed and top coated with a wax finished Poly. I just love how soft and subtle this came out. A perfect Beachy set

Duncan and Phyfe Table
350.00
29” Tall x 38”Deep x 18”wide (when closed) 29”wide (when open)

I’ve had this table for a while now knowing I wanted to add a grain stripe to it. I just couldn’t make up my mind on colors and I was terrified of making that stripe. My husband helped my with the stripe, he’s so much better with measuring than me. I’ve noticed that browns tones are in and trending right now so I figured I give that a try. I used 3 different shades of Brown on this table. Cozy Cottage, Dark Horse, and Maduro Brown all from Melange Paints. The top is stained with a wash of Cozy Cottage then top-coated with a very durable polyurethane. I’m very pleased with the out come.
Any pop of color would look good with this table as well as just staying with neutrals.
The size would be great in any room needing and extra table. Being a drop leaf it’s only 18” deep making it great in a small kitchen ,apartment, sunroom, entrance hall, or perfect as a sofa table. When open its 29” x 38”. It also has a pretty lined drawer and antique bronze hardware and feet. This table is made very well and is quite sturdy.
Although a very traditional in style this Duncan and Phyfe would look great in any farmhouse or modern settin

Sneak Peek of my next piece. So much Melange paint on this one! ...

How cute is this buffet! I recently saw a similar one done by Jen , And was totally inspired. This one needed some cosmetic reconstruction. The top had a slab of tile on the top ….. that had to go. A new piece of wood was added in its place. A bit of configuring had to be done. So my husband did that work for me. He did a great job of matching it up. I decided to tape it off and paint a stripe around the new board. It tied the boards together. I’m very pleased with the outcome. For paint I used in on the outside and was used as a wash on the top. I painted the inside and the stripe also with Turtle dove. What a great colors. This was the first time using them. I love them both!! For hardware I used some beautiful porcelain k***s and drops from . The Perfect touch. Drawer liner was from amazon. A great match with this paint.

Small Buffet
40’ Wide x 34”High x 18”Deep
$325.00

How sweet and cute is this Buffet….…. Who doesn’t need some extra storage space. This buffet is just that. Its got a nice size drawer and the bottom has a step back shelf lending it to a good deal of storage. This buffet would work so well as a liquor cabinet, coffee station, dinning room or kitchen buffet. It would be perfect in a large bathroom as a linen cabinet or in a front entrance or hallway. So many possibilities and very functional.
Painted in Melange in Card Catalog and a white wash of Turtle Dove was used on the top. Beautiful porcelain k***s were added giving it a modern yet vintage look. The top originally had tile centered in the middle. That got remove and a new piece of pine was added. A stripe of paint was added around the center piece of pine giving it a unique and charming look. The inside got painted and a beautiful liner was added to the drawer. It matches so well.

Heres my latest piece. I was offered this from a fellow NH furniture artist who was moving. The moment i saw it i knew exactly what paint and color to use. This little 1800’s desk is very primitive and it called for milk paint, so I purchased some milk paint from in …….and it was so perfect for this piece. I love the ease of this paint and how it shows depths of color and chips in all the right places. A new back was added and some cute decoupage paper to the shelves. To finish it off it was buffed with a dark wax. Now this little desk is perfect to enjoy for years to come. A big thank you to Shannon for offering this up. I totally enjoyed working on it.

Florals & Vintage Finds,Upcycled & Repurposed.

About 35 years ago I worked in an electronics company and felt the need for a change. You see, I was born with an innate need to create. As a child I, was always making this-and-that from what nature had to offer. It’s hard to deny that need to be creative.

I ended up going to floral design school and eventually open up my own shoppe called “The Gathering Basket.” I had a love for dried flowers, gardening, herbs, baskets, and all the pretty things that makes a house a home. Going to yard sales and antique shops was always a way to create unique and different home decor. I carried all kinds of home decor, mostly faux floral wreaths and arrangements. I would put flowers in almost anything. Vintage purses, shoes, crocks, punch bowls to name a few. I sold so many accessories for the country home. I ran that shop out of an old barn and at one time had 7 employees. I was quite busy. I have so many fond memories with my family and friends as they helped me run that business for near 20 years.

Then with life’s twist and turns, I closed my shop’s doors and pursued another one of my passions: horses. I never really left my creative roots however; I was always dabbling in this or that. But as time has passed, that creative innate feeling in me has resurfaced. I’ve re-opened The Gathering Basket, in hopes to share with you those same unique, thrifted finds that I’ve upcycled and repurposed to decorate your home. I love to paint old and abandoned things that people no longer want.

So...you never know what you may find in “The Gathering Basket!”
