About this time of year in 1983, Lori and I decided it was a good idea to go into business for myself and try and give it a go to make a good living. We'd been married 2 years, didn't have any kids and had very few bills besides rent. My first job was adding on to a rental house for Neal Barker on Mariposa St. in Lindsay. I've done so many different kinds of jobs since then and over quite an area in our state. Countless remodels, new homes, new commercial buildings, service station canopies, metal buildings, patios and one off type projects later and it's still fun most every day.
This business allowed us to give our 4 kids a good upbringing by giving them an opportunity and example of what work is. Now they get to teach the 13(soon 14) of our grandkids the same work ethic.
I've been blessed to have so many wonderful customers, employees, sub contractors and suppliers. I've made lifetime friends to many.
My plan is go on another 10 years so that I can hit 50 years in business as long as I'll be able, at 72, to still do the physical part of the work that I love.
My original conversation with Lori was asking her if she was fine with this idea(I guess she still is); I also told her that I had 1 condition and that was if I woke up one day and didn't want to do this work anymore, I was going to quit. Needless to say, I love this work I do.
I appreciate all the support over the years and look forward to more great projects for great people.
