It’s awesome to see the differences in the wood grains and the way they are cut at the mill can completely change the look of a project. Here we have purpleheart, cherry, walnut, maple, and white oak. We are putting the walnut to good use in our upcoming project as we construct a banquette!

Reveal Day! This media cabinet is made with quartersawn white oak. The way the lumber is cut at the saw mill makes for these beautiful rays you see in the wood. It was assembled using traditional joinery. On the back the client wanted ample space to plug in different consoles, so we added a long power strip. The doors are made from bookmatched pieces of the same white oak. That means the two panels that make up to door front are cut in half and folded to the grain patters create a butterfly effect. Our favorite part of any project is letting the client pick out the hardware when we are nearing the end. They opted for a hexagonal shaped, matte black pull that brings out the darker tones of the oak. We know they will enjoy this piece for many, many years!

When we make cabinet doors, they are thick, sturdy and will hold up to wear and tear. Take a look at one of our custom doors on the left side, versus a recently purchased ”online” door. By using real hardwood and properly joinery, this media center door will last a lifetime. Our instructions were to make sure their kids couldn’t destroy the doors like the last media cabinet. Mission accomplished!
