Been seeing so much terrible advise here lately on termites!
These pictured are swarmers of the Eastern Subterranean Lite termite. If you are seeing these this means a colony is close by😱
Myths:
❗️They go away and die quickly…….❗️
✅ yes they do but, the workers, soldiers, and queen live below ground. They carry out the damage work, the winged swarmers spread the colony. They die or go away quickly because termites need moisture. They are trying to get back to the ground, the ones that can’t😵
❗️Ortho home defense, sprays from stores, or DIY of any kind is a good idea❗️(our favorite “ just pour (insert fuel for vehicle here) on them”)🤣🤣
✅ these are great for killing swarmers within legal label applications, Termidor in the state of Tennessee contrary to belief, is illeagal to apply without being a licensed chartered firm says so on the label on the front of the bottle. LABEL IS TENNESSEE STATE LAW! Diy is not recommended for termite control, we have equipment specialized for termite treatments. Our rigs run normally $3,500 + with injectors, long rods, C&C tips, trenching attachments, ect. To effectively kill subterranean termites in east TN the treatment needs to get to soil level.
❗️”I have termite stations” ❗️
✅ while termite stations are great and can eliminate termites, they rely on feeding to happen for the system to work. The termites are after cellulose a protein in the wood or plant matter, any thing with cellulose can be eaten by a termite. All a station is , is a compressed disk or stick of cellulose that has been treated with an IGR to stop termite reproduction. If they never find and consume the station they will never die, and multiple factors like mold can ruin the bait and they will not eat it!
❗️boric acid❗️
✅ boric acid is great for a-lot of things but not our go to termite method. Boric acid if not applied properly will not kill a termite. In a lot of cases boric acid treated wood fails because it does not contain a proper LD50 for termites. Home depot gets sued a lot over this! Just ask a state pesticide inspector….. boric acid os great for no other options like inaccessible areas.
