First full deck build this season completed a couple weeks ago!

This pool deck was created with structure, stability, and aesthetic in mind to create the best possible build. From framing to finishing this deck was built to last the life of the pool.

This was a great project to get started off early in the spring- no shade from the sun the whole day. This was also great timing for the homeowners as they will now have a brand new deck to utilize the whole summer.

Its not too late to schedule your own deck this summer. But time is filling up quick so reach out sooner than later! See all the pictures to see the build in progress.

This custom set of solid red oak doors were a great way to start off the new year. Everything in the opening is built completely from scratch.

The homeowner wanted a set of doors to not only reduce sound for the office, but to bring a classy look. A few different designs were picked through a couple different books and ultimately this is the design that was chosen. The design compliments other projects that were complete in this house.

These doors were built to last a lifetime and more. The joinery fit tight and only needed wood glue to be completely secure. There are no screws or nails in these doors except in the hinges. See the pictures to see how the doors were assembled!

Excited to finally share my largest solo project yet! I have been wanting to construct a coffered ceiling for years and finally was given the opportunity to come up with a design and layout.

This project started in mid March and lasted for about five weeks of consistent work. The hard part was first laying out the ceiling and figuring out how everything would be spaced. Once all of the framework was in, the pressure was off but days and days of repetition were ahead. From trim boards, crown, touchups, this ceiling had me going back & forth and up & down constantly to make everything look perfect.

When the day came that I finally finished touchups, (touchups alone took 3 days) I got to wait patiently for the painters and electrician to come in and finish their ends. I got to revisit this job and see everything completed last weekend and pictures do not do it justice! It was very fulfilling to see everything completed and looking just as perfect as I left it.

Interested in your own coffered ceiling? I would love to help get that complete! See the photos to see just a glimpse in the process of making one.

Note: There are approximately 54 boxes and over 900 different pieces of wood/trim in this entire ceiling!

Finished up a couple weeks ago is this brand new set of carports.

The homeowner wanted to free up some space in the existing garage by leaving the vehicles outside. However, they still wanted their cars protected from the weather and potential tree branches that could fall.

We built off the side of the shed to avoid removing the original garage roof which saved a lot of labor and material. We built it with a slope not too steep so that there was still enough head room and room for the cars to fit. The gap between both roofs were sealed with foam closure puece to ensure everything was sealed.

This was a unique project for me but very happy with the finished results. See all the progress in the pictures!

In under a month this deck nearly trippled in size from a small family sized deck to a party sized deck.

The homeowner did a good job in removing most of the old decking boards so the hole digging/pouring process could begin right away. We kept the old original support beam to use as a support for the middle of the new extended beams and as a guide for placing a new beam at the end.

The main deck was framed and flooring added first to create a work surface. After the stair case was completed, the sliding door could be used so the next lower platform was ready to be built. The lower platform and platform step were built so the stair rise is the same as the staircase on the other side of the deck. This ensures confident steps wherever you go down on the deck.

There was a lot of sweat put into this one - but there is no doubt the efforts will be worth it for all of the gatherings to be had on it.

Interested in your own custom deck? Unfortunately there will not be enough time this year for me to complete it! But plan it now and you could have a new deck next spring!

This much needed porch renovation was completed just this week. From old rotted wood flooring, railings, and support posts to fresh composite material for a rot-free porch.

Going into this project there was no way to tell what the support joists looked like underneath. We knew there was some rot in the corners due to the floor sag, but upon seeing them it was good this porch was getting done now. Nearly all the support joists underneath had significant rot on the ends so we replaced all of the exterior joists and most interior joists. It was only a matter of time until the support posts and roof collapsed into the rotted floor.

The stairs were also built improperly and were way too high for each rise. They were custom built to fit the space better and to be much easier to walk up.

Now that everything is composite on this porch there will be very little maintenance and no worry of rot for a long time. And not to mention, how clean and natural the new porch look is! Check out the pictures to see the transformation!

Received finished countertop pictures from the customer so that means it is time to share!

This project has been in the works since November so it is awesome to finally share all of the work that has been completed. This kitchen make over was completed in three steps which included new built in cabinets, new upper doors, and a fresh paint job.

The built ins were the most precise part of the of the project. Making them look seamless with existing kitchen cabinets is not easy. We decided to get rid of the fridge cabinets because they were far too small and shallow compared to the fridge. Completely new builtins were constructed so the fridge was tucked in nicely. This also gives a considerable amount of extra space inside the cabinets.

The doors were made from solid maple frames and maple plywood panels for great durability and paintability. This material made painting easy with smooth finishes. All doors were sprayed with Sherwin Williams Emerald line which is the best and most durable paint for cabinets. The cabinet frames were painted in corners and rolled with a fine foam roller for an almost equally smooth finish as spraying is.

Seeing the new countertop installed was one of the most satisfying parts. It really brought the whole project together and made it feel like a new kitchen. Not to mention- much cheaper then a brand new kitchen! Check out the pictures for all of the progress pictures!

Completed today in the rain is this new deck resurface. There were a couple firsts on this one which included an install of trex rain escape and a wire railing.

The trex rain escape is a great way to add more useable space below the deck to keep personal belongings like furniture and people dry. The wire railings are a great option to have great railing support, and a more unobstructed view of the area beyond the deck.

Another needed change was a new framed set of steps. The original steps were built cheaply and improperly. A guest actually fell through the steps. Not only do the new steps look much more appealing, but are also much safer.

Overall a fun project to figure out and a great start to this spring/summers deck projects. Check out how this deck was resurfaced from start to finish in the pictures!

Completed just this past week is a very cool wood ceiling and stair opening project.

To prep for the install of the wood, the homeowners did a great job of removing plaster on the stair wall to reveal the stone which is original to the house. The wood had to be scribed to the stone fairly close that way the mason could work the mortar against the wood to create a perfect joint.

There were a couple other challenges that were revealed as the project progressed. Being its a house built in the 1800’s, there are many areas with walls that are not square or just uneven. You will see in some pictures that the ceiling had to be dropped down to even out the lines.

With the ceiling planks installed and and trimmed out, the last objective was to open up the stairs. The blue planks below the stairs you can see in pictures originally went to the ceiling. Cutting the tops off and trimming the bottom leaves room to see the beautiful stone wall and wood ceiling a bit better from the floor below.

Overall very happy with the outcome of this project. It took time and a lot of precise measurements but the results show. Check out all of the pictures to see the progress and finished product!

Did you know that you can get a tile appearance from a vinyl floor? Not only do you get the look, but also better durability, warmer feel, and cleaner finish to the floor than real tile.

On this job the customer wanted to have a more durable flooring for the kitchen due to it being a high traffic area. Refinishing old floors can be beautiful, but still will not last as long as a properly installed vinyl floor. The baseboard trim was also updated to better appeal to the style of the trim in the rest of the house.

This was a pretty quick two day job, but it makes all of the difference in changing the appearance and maintainability of this kitchen.
