The Rush Creek is less than 10 minutes from the west entrance, making it an ideal place to stay when exploring the park.

Star light, star bright. 🌟The Milky Way was on full display in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, a protected area high in the White Mountains in Inyo County in eastern California. Methuselah, a tree hidden in this beautiful haven, is the oldest known tree at over 4,850 years old, reminding us that we humans are just passing through.

Foraging for mushrooms is a much slower and deliberate form of hiking. (Trust us, you can't go for miles!) ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
What we love about foraging is the opportunity it affords the hiker to notice the little details below ankle level, like a purple mushroom stipe or morning dew drops on an Artist's conk. It makes every trip special. If you're lucky and know what you're looking for (4), you can even go home with dinner from the forest! 🍄
