New here? Did you know RFG may be the only nonprofit furniture store like it in the COUNTRY, probably even the world?! Born in Lawrence, KS, here’s a few key points that make us distinct:
-We are a nonprofit but do not rely solely on product donations- we also aquire truckloads of new furniture, in fact, about 80-90% of our store floor merchandise is from truckloads.
-We hire and give life and job skills to foster, and juvenile justice system involved youth- they are the reason the store exists at all, and they learn skills like assembly, customer service, merchandising, team work, communication, and much more.
-We try to price as generously as we can while still keeping our doors open- without additional grant funding we would not be able to operate. Every sale truly goes toward making the program exist, and we have a variety of inventory, from heavily discounted to more high-end items.
-More money spent here means more money in support of providing a learning ground for at-risk youth to learn valuable life and job skills, and experience a job. It means more youth can be served, more programs can be offered, more quality staff can be retained, and the program as a whole can remain active.
