Dearest clients, vendors, and friends:
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to share with you the passing of Decor 8’s founder and my beloved father, Marty Gass.
Marty died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 28, 2023 after a short but valiant battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
My Dad had a big personality; he was daring and brave, funny and charismatic. He was a brilliant problem-solver, inventor, and storyteller. He gave fantastic advice and could fix anything that was broken. Most of all, he was a wonderful father and he taught me countless lessons — but above all else, to always do the right thing.
As many of you know, Decor 8 is a family legacy that spans several generations. Our history was my Dad’s pride and joy, and he worked tirelessly to ensure the gifts and knowledge his parents left him would be passed down to his kids as well.
Decor 8 is what it is today because of his fearless leadership and unwavering dedication to our family business. For the past 10 years, my dad devoted his time and energy to teaching me everything he knew. Our desks were ten feet apart, and I will forever cherish our daily lunches and every second of the precious time we spent together, working, laughing, and learning.
While I’m heartbroken to have lost my father, I am also honored for the opportunity to carry on his legacy for many years to come. His memory will always be a blessing to me, and to the entire Decor 8 family.
For those who wish to pay their respects, a virtual memorial ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 5th at 8:30 AM PST / 11:30 AM EST. Please let me know if you would like to attend, and I will privately send you the details.
