It is with profound sorrow that we share the loss of JR Day, master craftsman, artist, and the heart and hands behind Ranchland Rustics Ltd.

JR passed away suddenly on Friday, December 19th.

JR was more than a builder of furniture - he was a steward of history. He believed old wood carried stories, and through his work, he gave those stories new life. Every barn beam, every weathered board, every hand-forged detail mattered to him. Nothing was rushed. Nothing was artificial. Every piece was built with integrity, patience, and pride - built to last, just as he believed things should be.

JR loved the West - its grit and honesty. He loved working with his hands, early mornings, the quiet of the shop, and the satisfaction of creating something real in a world that often feels anything but. Ranchland Rustics was never just a business to him - it was his life’s work and his legacy.

We are deeply grateful to every customer, collector, and friend who believed in his work and helped carry his art into homes across the country. Your support meant more to him than he ever said out loud.

I will be sharing a link to JR’s obituary and information about his services, along with a photo, for those who wish to honor him, remember him, and celebrate a life well lived.

Thank you for loving his work.

With JR’s passing, the sun now sets on Ranchland Rustics Ltd.
There are limited, one-of-a-kind pieces still available, each handcrafted by JR and bearing the mark of his craftsmanship and soul.

Still Thinking About That Artwork?

Do you remember that piece?

The one that made you slow down.
The one you walked past… and then circled back to.
The one that stayed with you long after you left our booth.

Some pieces don’t leave when the booth does.
They stay with you.

That’s because some pieces are meant to find their home in their own time.
Select pieces you may remember seeing before, along with new Western artwork, are now available - ready for Christmas, with delivery options available.

Every piece we offer is made with intention, rooted in history, and meant to be lived with. These aren’t trends or décor - they’re stories, crafted to last.

As we wrap up the year, we want to say thank you, truly, for your interest, your conversations, and your support of Ranchland Rustics. Whether you brought a piece home this year or simply took the time to appreciate the craftsmanship, it means more to us than you know.

From our family to yours, we wish you a Christmas filled with warmth, peace, and moments that feel like home.

With gratitude,

JR & Rosalind

Ranchland Rustics Is Headed to Texas!

Yes, Texas - where the dust of the Old West will meet the hands that still honor it.

Ranchland Rustics is proud to be part of the International Texas Longhorn Association Championship & Sale in Glen Rose, Texas, from October 8–12 at the Expo Center.

We’ll be showcasing our authentic reclaimed barnwood furniture and western fine art - each piece crafted with the same integrity and spirit that built the West itself.

If you’re in the area, come say hello, run your hand across 100-year-old barnwood, and feel the stories that live in every grain.

Last night, Ranchland Rustics was honored to attend the Back the Badge fundraiser in Kiowa, Colorado This incredible event raises funds to support law enforcement officers and their families, providing critical assistance in times of need.

Hosted by our friends, Sheriff Tim Norton and his wife Sharon, the evening was filled with community spirit and generosity.

We were proud to donate a framed art piece, Give Him The Reins by western artist Karisa Brookshire, set in reclaimed barnwood and accented with original tin from an 1880s ceiling. We are thrilled to share that this piece raised $1,100 in the silent auction!

It was a beautiful night for a worthy cause, and we are grateful to have been part of it.

Ranchland Rustics is proud to be part of the Eastern Idaho State Fair, running August 29 through September 6, 2025. We’re joined by Reid Lance Rosenthal - Wyoming rancher, award-winning author of the Threads West series, and the distinctive voice behind the On the Right Side radio and The Cowboys Take podcast. We’re bringing together Western craftsmanship and storytelling under one roof.

This isn’t just a booth - it’s a portal to the soul of the West: weathered barnwood, handcrafted details, vintage hides and the quiet strength of a story carried in every grain of timber. If you find yourself in Idaho during fair week, we’d be honored to have you stop by, linger awhile, and soak in the heritage and heart we’re celebrating together.

We’re proud to share that our featured artist, Karisa Brookshire, participated in her first art show at the Greeley Stampede’s Western Art Show. Her original piece, “Looking for Friends,” was sold during the event.

A well-deserved accomplishment, and just the beginning!
