we are having a very slow start to the spring/summer but it is coming. there is still plenty of time to apply corn gluten meal to help slow down the w**ds and make your lawn super green. be the envy of the neighborhood while truly being GREEN

before you spread a bunch of poison or hire someone else to dump a bunch of poison on your property consider the damaging effect it will have on you, your children, and your pets, not to mention the environment. if this concerns you, let me know i have several ways you can still have a nice lawn and spare the poisoning of the planet

permethrin is toxic to cats. Many cats die after being given flea treatments intended for dogs, or by contact with dogs having recently been treated with permethrin. this is the ingredient in Yard Gard, cutter mosquito lawn spray and most of the stuff you spray on your lawn to kill mosquitos and in some other pesticides. i used to use it because the EPA says it is safe but the cats cant process it because the way there liver is created and they can die from it. so be careful of this. it is also the ingredient in the Bug-off clothing. the original stuff comes from chrysanthemums and works well but has a short life in the UV rays of the sun so they made a synthetic version the is UV stable but this is probably the factor that kills the cats.

last night we got together with some people and AHA and talked about organic lawns, garnering, and food and how it relates to the way we are living in today's environment. I talked briefly about my techniques, then we had an open discussion, it was a very positive enlightening experience. i would like to do this again on a regular basis it is so nice to be able to learn new things.

Corn gluten meal is a natural fertilizer that breaks down the molecular structure of root cell walls during germination, seeds cant get water and die. Or pre emergent w**d control. no new w**ds including crab grass. 1 pound per 50 square feet minimum required to get control. keeps your lawn greener than the neighbors, both in color and environmentally.

for a nice fall lawn that will stay green apply fertilizer now and then around Thanksgiving your lawn will be in great shape for the winter and beautiful for all the trick or treaters. if you have tons of leaves aerate your lawn use a fast dissolving organic fert they wash in pretty quick when watered in. it has been dry so watering is good and now that it isn't so hot your lawn wont dry up real fast.

if you have brown patches in you lawn you might have grubs. check by lifting up the grass with a spade then scratch around a bit and if you have them you will find them. they eat the roots under the lawn and if the critters find them you will wake up and find your lawn dug up like someone was out there with a roto-tiller . to kill then Dylox seams like the only thing that works.

if you are thinking about fertilizing why not try some corn gluten meal? it stops seeds from germinating (like w**d seeds) is safe for the environment, wont burn the lawn with the summer heat. as it decomposes it creates some wonderful nitrogen greening up the lawn nicely. some chemicals only take a week, it takes a little longer but good thing come to those who wait.
