It’s been awhile since my last piece but.. I’m back & I’m so excited!

I had to reflect on the “why” for a bit. This time I got back to the joy & creativity that I have when I’m truly enjoying the work.
Reminding myself this is for fun & if it doesn’t suit me the first time, well, then redo it! (Which I did 😊!) and both times it was fun!!

I poured my heart & soul into her while my parents were staying with me last year. My mom had just broken her ankle & couldn’t walk. My dad was going thru Chemo & was in need of full time care. I took time off of my full time job to try to take care of them. So I worked on this dresser as my therapy I guess. Before I finished, my dad passed away. After that I correlated finishing this piece with closing the chapter of having him here with me. It took me a few months before I could touch it. I didn’t even want to look at it because I didn’t want him to be gone & working on it meant admitting he was gone. I’m sure that doesn’t make much sense but it’s where I was mentally. I finally finished it in June of 2024, 2 months after he passed. It has been sitting in my basement ever since staring me down every time I went down there. A lot of people told me she was beautiful but nobody wanted to buy her. Today she was sold & moved to her new home. I’m hoping to match a set of nightstands for the amazing buyers to go with it over the Summer. All things have a way of working out in their own time. Tho this sale was bittersweet, I was finally ready to let it go & I’m still counting my blessings.
