I really like this wood, with its reddish burgundy tone. Especially love the way the candle flame reflects beautifully off of the wood. It’s definitely a harder wood, and takes a lot of patience to get these tealight spaces just right. One of my favorites to date. 🔥 ❤️

Finishing up the latest cutting board, sanding at 80, 120 and 220 grit; solid maple hardwood with rounded edges

By the time we get to this stage, it’s all about smoothing over the wood grain; next up is a few steps of raising the grain, and then on to polishing up the final board in preparation for delivery; this is why we do this

Red oak is definitely harder to work with, but the result is always rich and detailed because of the clearly defined woodgrain; I love this beautiful finish and the soft glow you get when these candles are burning
