Exterior improvements on our Coconut Grove remodel! ✨🤍Between the 2 of us we figured out a way to make that structural exterior trim work and found a better place for the electrical!

Here are the before and afters of the hall bath of our Coconut Grove project!🤍 We were really pleased with the tradesmen we used! They all did an amazing job! The shower door was installed by and dm us if you need a tile guy and we’ll see if we can connect you because he did such great work!

I’ve been meaning to post for a really, REALLY, long time but it hasn’t happened! Getting settled in Texas and working on our fixer has taken priority! Why on earth would we move from Hawaii to Texas? I know! That’s the question we always hear but that’s not a short answer! More on that later! Here are some before and afters of our previous dining room in Kailua, Oahu. Man how I loved living there!

Happy 13th Birthday Nash! You are sweet, smart, loyal, loving, and quiet. Your heart is kind and you don’t speak bad about people. You are a best friend to both Hagen and Capri. Our kitchen remodel was super simple, affordable, in stock, and mostly on Island. I designed the layout and Scott put the cabinets together and installed them. We used prefab quartz counters, and just cut lumber for open shelving. We decided to store our prettier stuff in the main kitchen while a lot of the food items are in the pantry space behind. Our barstools were only $10. They were supposed to be temporary while we waited for our furniture but 3 years later we still use them every day. It takes a little creativity and hard work but a new kitchen can be done for a lot less than you might think.

I’ve been praying a lot for perspective and for living a purposeful life during this transitional time. Yesterday I went about my day, excited to get the new pantry space organized with our abundance of food and supplies. The timing of that was important. I didn’t know it yet, but that night through a last minute gift from a friend, I would watch the Bloom Conference with my daughter, and we would set our eyes on Laurence (through Compassion International.) We read through her story and many others who had been waiting for a sponsor for at least 380 days. Although our provisions look a lot different this year because of job loss, I realized how abundantly blessed we still are, and that it doesn’t take that much sacrifice to choose to change one life. I think the recent thought of all that food in my pantry stirred my heart and prepared us to make a difference.

We waited patiently and now we finally have our basic IKEA picture frame. How nice it was to be able to go pick things up at the store on the mainland without shipping costs! What a process it can be to get things to Hawaii!
•July 1-we ask for shipping quote
•July 6-we need to pay double $$$ for it to get it shipped
•July 8-we order anyways-it’s the perfect size
•August?-it arrives damaged
•It is now backordered
•September 25, frame in hand!
We love living here 🤍🤍🤍, but shipping is just one of those challenges of designing from an island!
