A good friend's brother passed two weeks ago. My friend asked if I could make an Irish themed container for his ashes. He wanted an oak box with decorations representing Ireland and his brother's favorite town.
I made stencils for the designs.
Delivered it this weekend.
He was very pleased with the result.

Here is the completed portable desk. This is a design I found in a book by Graham Blackburn.
The raised panel top swings forward to create a slanted writing surface while revealing the storage area within. There is also a partitioned area for smaller items like envelops etc.
This piece will go to the silent auction at Ca****la Festiva's 50th anniversary gala. I have sung with this group since ~1998.

Room for 6 recorders, soprano to bass.

Many projects at once in the shop. I need to catch up on postings.
Here are some pictures of a colonial style portable desk. The top will have a raised panel exterior. The top swings open to reveal the internal storage while the inside surface be coming the writing area.
The one picture shows the raising process by hand. Knife, chisel, bench plane and rabbiting plane. Cross grain done first. Following with grain steps remove any edge breakout.

Over the past week I've started on another bookcase for the house. Seven ft by three ft. We have so many books! This will help organize and reduce clutter.
The carcass is complete and backing panel sized and painted. Pieces of wood on carcass are the beginnings of the base and crown moldings.
