I bought a new toy at auction. Looks like it is in pretty good shape. A little light restoration and I'll have this baby humming in no time. The main obstacle is that it is 3ph so I will have to decide if I want to swap the motor or possibly integrate a vfd.

I spent a good many hours trying to get the chips out of this old blade and flattening the back. When I went to use it the first time it cut like butter but was cutting much deeper on the edge than in the middle. Upon further inspection despite the time I put in somehow I managed to sharpen a small inverted camber into this blade. How can that be? I used a flattening stone on each of my water stones before using them to make sure they were nice and flat. Well low and behold my flatten stone isn't flat anymore. I guess I still have a lot to learn about maintaining blades and water stones.

My little 4" jointer isn't big enough for these boards I am prepping for the . Have to do this job by hand, luckily I just picked up this joiner plane from . Had to put in some hours to recondition the blade but now she cuts like butter. 👍
