Over a year ago we rented a firewood processor to reduce the amount of logs we had into firewood. IMO it was a disaster. It kept hanging up at all different stages and after 5 people.stopped by to watch it, we got the kinks out and it produced some wood.

Today, I ran into 2 bags of that wood and they were huge chunks! The average woman couldn't lift, load or carry these chunks so they were ran through our woodmizer splitter before id send to customer. Nice 4"x5" or smaller pieces that stack and burn nicely.

Its been a learning experience trying to make the general public happy. Sometimes we resplit, sometimes we just add more oak if I dont like the blend I see when we dump out a bag. From 90 degree summer days to 9 degrees in winter, we are working so you have a quality fire when you need it.

Thank you so much for supporting our sawmill and firewood sales. God is good, and has literally provided our daily bread through these sales.

Checking to see how everyone is doing on wood. Know its been a warm winter but cold snaps coming.
1/3 cord bags, (13" wood also available for small stoves),
16" firewood bundles,
16" kindling bundles,
16" bundles and 10 # bags of Apple, Cherry, and Hickory to smoke with
shavings to keep critters warm. If you need it, we got it!

We worked in summer heat, so you could stay warm on a cold winter day. Local pickup or delivery available.

I keep hearing of people buying firewood that wont burn. I tested my bundles (firewood 7.6% and kindling 5.8% average)to see what the moisture content was.
We resplit some chunks i found this morning in a load i wasnt happy with. Dry as a bone. Added some bundles of firewood and kindling to the order to ensure they could get a fire going after a bad experience with another seller.

Allot of people sell firewood, especially after Helene. That's fine, I just want my customers happy with their order, and warm this holiday season. The world is hard, home should be warm.

Time to stoke the fire!

Well be around all week filling orders. Call me and I'll get you a load delivered or I have bundles also. Great if you just want to knock off the chill and save on power bill.

Brutal wind chills may slam the region next weekend… the coldest we’ve seen so far this season! ❄️🥶
The GFS model shows wind chill values or feels like temps well below zero Saturday from the NC mountains into Tennessee and northbound. The Upstate to Charlotte and Atlanta drop into the single digits, with teens just outside those areas.

The European model is about 24 hours slower, bringing the coldest air in on Sunday instead. Either way, this looks like a major Arctic blast in what has already been a frigid December.

There are early signs temperatures may moderate between the 17th and 20th, so hopefully we get a small break from this relentless pattern.

Yellow pine, hemlock, cherry, black walnut, poplar, white oak, red oak, ash and maple. All wood from Helene. It devasted our community last season, but we are resilient. What an honor to take what was labeled as destruction and make something beautiful to stand strong at a local gem in our community.
Margo Gregory Justus and Cory Justus support our family and we support theirs. What a blessing they have been to The Humbled Hen’s Nest. When I was asked about a pallet wall, I bucked. Let me do something way better for y'all! It was our first and we are pleased with the way it turned out.
Thankful for the work and the opportunity to serve others, especially a farming family in our community who are so good to us!
