Hello! I finally have a moment to make this post. Most of you know that “this” all began with me making over vintage pieces of furniture, literally one piece at a time. Things changed when we moved to Florida to help our daughter with her fixer upper new old home. Pete began building new solid wood pieces and I hand finished them. We enjoy working together and have created many beautiful pieces, but my passion will always be transforming an old piece and giving it a new life. Well… I have stumbled onto a new path, where our worlds collide. Some old furniture will never have a perfect top no matter how much chalk paint magic is applied. The particleboard veneer just is not gonna cooperate. That was the case with a recent piece I was asked to make over. It was a nice solid piece, but the top needed help. I was looking at it in my paint studio and it was sitting right next to a new unfinished console table that Pete had just built. A lightbulb went off! Pete could build me a new solid wood top and mount it on the newly painted and slightly distressed entry table I just made over. I thought with a stained real wood top, it would be stunning… and I was right! I so look forward to doing this on many more old pieces. The possibilities are endless! Dressers, end tables, coffee tables, buffet servers etc etc. Such an amazing way to really breathe new life into an old piece. I hope you like it!
