It’s that time of year again, with temps dipping down below freezing, be sure to protect your home this week! 🥶❄️

A few tips to help prevent frozen pipes:

-Disconnect any water hoses from outdoor spigots.
-Leave hot & cold water dripping.
-Programmable dishwashers and washing machines can be set to come on between 2-4am.

If you do happen to wake up to frozen pipes, open all water faucet valves until they thaw.

Frozen Pipe Advisory!

This photo is of an outside tankless water heater that busted during a freeze, causing extensive damage.

If the water will not run, your pipes are likely frozen - the damage doesn’t start until the pipes thaw. If your pipes appear to be frozen it is a good idea to shut the water off to your home and open faucets to lessen the damage once things begin to thaw.

To help avoid frozen pipes, leave hot & cold water dripping, disconnect outdoor water-hoses, close crawl space and basement doors. If you have bathrooms that are rarely used make sure the heat is on to those rooms as well.

If you plan to travel, it may be a good idea to winterize your home to avoid disaster upon your return.

***SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE***

The latest guidance is suggesting the morning/lunchtime wave of storms will be stronger than expected. This line of storms should arrive in the 10am-12pm timeframe and could contain gusty winds, small hail and isolated tornadoes. There is still some risk of more storm development this afternoon but that threat seems to be lessening compared to what models showed yesterday.
