This one was a bit different. Hard to tell from the pictures but there was a fissure on the surface of the countertop. Which is normal and typically not something you need to worry about. But the way the cabinets taper down to the front right corner and there only being 1 shim made a pressure point on that fissure so it started to fracture from underneath.

This.. is by far the absolute worst repair I've had to do in my 12 years of this industry.
This one happened in shop. Quartzite, Taj Mahal. The CNC was doing the sink and the finger bit broke coming through the front edge because this stuff is crazy hard to drill and route through.
Long story short, worst puzzle I've ever done. I had to Frankenstein the pieces back in (none of them fit in place) then grind the glue and shards down to flush again and polish it out. I wasn't sure if I could get this one back to life again. But I did, thank the Lord, because we didn't have any more to remake it.

This one! Holy cow... I don't know how some companies get away with this stuff, or stay in business. The story behind this was that the installers damaged it putting it in. Then attempted to repair it. But they ground down the face of the corner to a slant and messed up the polish then called it a day.
I had to build that corner back up with glue then even it out so it was flush with the surface again then shine it up. I was able to get this one out for the customer without having to patch polish the face.

This was a fun job. The owner is a retired geologist and we talked about rocks and minerals while I worked.

This one took a while lol. The mitred panel chipped out on install and was filled with glue. Looked bad. And the face of the panel got scratched by the pad when they put the rounds on the panel.
I had to cut the glue out and put new glue in with chips of the same material. Then I had to polish the protruding chips down to flush everything up.. about 5 hours later it looked almost like new.
The pictures don't really do this one justice. The contractor for this job didn't think it could be done. He kept saying if it doesn't look like it didn't happen then it's getting replaced. After it was done he came up. Looked at it and said, "...huh.. I didn't think it was possible but that looks excellent."
