Have you ever wondered what the buildings in downtown Greensboro looked like years ago or who once walked through their doors?
GAPTA is excited to launch Framed In Time, a project designed to bring the history of our downtown to life. Historic photographs and stories are being placed on buildings so visitors and residents can get a glimpse into Greensboro’s past while standing in the very places where that history happened.
We’re starting with the 1300 block of Main Street—Engle Gallery down to Sakura—with plans to expand the project to additional blocks in the future.
This project is about more than old photographs. It’s about preserving the stories, people, and places that have shaped Greensboro and sharing them with future generations.
The first displays are now up, so the next time you’re downtown, take a few minutes to stop, look, and imagine Greensboro as it once was.
A special thank you goes to Greensboro native and local history enthusiast Odette Yeager, whose research and passion for local history have been invaluable to this project.
After all, every building has a story to tell.
