As a former Barbie who knows the discrimination against blondes is real, I think McKenna's idea to create a non-plastic "Climate Barbie" who carries a water bottle and rides a bicycle is brilliant! Mattel probably won't manufacture it, but someone should.
These days, it’s good to be Barbie. But that wasn’t always the case.

Eco Rooms makes it easy to find stylish and sustainable home furnishings that are good for the planet and those who live on it.
Co-founder Barb Dornbush grew up spending summers on the Jersey shore in a very arts-oriented family and she still loves both art and nature. Her mother lived in Princeton, NJ, but owned a Haitian art gallery in New Hope, PA. Her father lived in New York City where she frequented the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art. After her first career teaching managerial sciences at business schools, she had her mid-life crisis and decided to go to art school and study interior design. Upon graduating she immediately opened the Dornbush Design Studio focused on sustainable residential interiors because, although she loved creating beautiful spaces, she was concerned about the impact of the home furnishings industry on the planet and those who live on it. She won the first ASID Design Excellence Award for Sustainable Design in Georgia, has published in several magazines, has given talks to groups, such as Georgia Organics and the Art Institute of Atlanta, and served on the program committee of the IFDA’s national conference to bring information about sustainability to more designers. She has also been a guest on “The Lazy Environmentalist” on Sirius Radio.
Barb is a Green Accredited Professional (Green AP) having taken the first GREENleaders course in 2009 and maintained it with continuing education. The GREENleaders course provides designers and others the knowledge and credentials to become an expert in sustainability. Developed by a LEED AP, in conjunction with the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC), the course is now updated with input from experts in the field including ranking staff of World Wildlife Fund, Rainforest Alliance, a founder of the US Green Building Council, and the Climate Reality Project. It provides a comprehensive overview, cutting edge advice, and inspiring ideas with practical implementation plans.
Although co-founder Jessica Freeman is new to the interior design industry, it holds a special place in her heart. Her grandmother, Lou Stormont, was an interior designer, and growing up Jess often tagged along with her on trips to showrooms and clients’ homes.
Jess brings with her a business background with experience in marketing, finance, research, and education. After working for a biopharmaceutical company, she felt called to teach young children. For six years Jessica taught children ages 18 months to 4 years at a school where the aim was to help children grow spiritually, physically, socially, cognitively, and emotionally through the approach of learning through experiences and indulging children’s natural curiosities. She worked with children of all abilities including children with Special Needs. Jess is particularly concerned about the impact of the home furnishings industry on the health and well-being of children.
