We want to take a moment to speak to our community about who we are, what we do, and where the greatest need is right now.
We are not a pet rescue organization. GRPBA does not take animals into our care — we receive calls and emails every single day from pet owners asking us to do just that. We are a pet advocacy and outreach organization. We work to keep pets in their home and prevent economic surrender. However in some cases rehoming is necessary and we can help with direct pet rehoming.
What We Do: Direct Pet Rehoming Assistance
Our rehoming assistance program is designed for pet owners who are committed to keeping their pet in their home until the right new home is found. This is a home-to-home process your pet never enters a shelter or rescue facility. You remain directly involved in every step. You are rehoming your pet yourself, we assist you along the way.
Here's what that looks like:
📋 Creating a profile on a safe, reputable pet adoption platform such as Rehome by Adopt a Pet.
✍️ Writing a compelling bio — we guide you on format, what to include, and how to present your pet
📸 Photos and graphics — we create shareable graphics from your photos to promote your pet
📣 Cross-posting — we amplify your pet's listing across our social media platforms for greater visibility
📬 Adoption inquiries — you handle calls, emails, and questions from potential adopters, with our guidance every step of the way
🤝 Meet & greets — we can provide a space for adoption consultations and in-person meetings
📂 Application review — if you need help evaluating a potential adopter's application, we're here
💉 Spay/Neuter & Vaccines — if your pet isn't spayed or neutered or isn't current on vaccines, we will help you with that before rehoming. *We only assist in rehoming pets who are spayed and neutered.
To be clear: we are not taking your animal into our care. We are walking alongside you as you rehome your pet safely and responsibly.
Many of us are volunteers or staff members at local animal shelters and rescues. We know the adoption process inside and out and we're bringing that knowledge directly to you so your pet finds the right home, safely with your complete involvement.
One important note: Rehoming takes time. We speak with pet owners every day who are hoping for a solution within 48 hours or a week. That timeline isn't realistic — not for us, not for shelters, and not for rescues.
🆘 Where Your Help is Needed Right Now
Animal rescues and shelters across our community, our state, and our nation are in crisis.
🔻 Foster homes are dwindling
🔻 Adoptions are down
🔻 Intake is up
🔻 At capacity — and it's not getting better
The number one reason rescues can't help more animals is due to the fact every organization is struggling with not having enough foster homes. Right now there are not enough foster homes for rescue pets in our community.
Rescues and shelters need foster homes for adoptive pets. Fostering is not a forever commitment. It is a bridge. It is a temporary home that gives an animal stability, safety, and love while they wait for their forever family. And right now that bridge does not have enough people willing to walk across it.

Ask one simple question.
"How do I become a foster?"
You do not have to have all the answers. You do not need a big house. You do not need experience. You just need to make the call.
We know our friends at Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue are in need of foster homes currently.
