We're not gone, just in a new season of life here at the Little homestead. 💙

In the new year, we both transitioned into new careers, one of which resulted in a few weeks out of state for training. With half of us being gone, it leaves just one of us running everything at home. It's 5am-10pm of nonstop life, leaving no time for furniture. No complaints because, aside from work, I get time to focus on our girls and our home, which always comes first. ☺️

So while we're currently not taking any custom orders or working on furniture at this time, we will resume when the time is right for us!

This storage cabinet got a nice little refresh! Painted in Coal Black and finished with Ebony Stain and Finishing Oil, both by Fusion Mineral Paint, it now has a whole new look and matches nicely with the rest of Melissa's set. 🖤

This dresser has STORIES.

An oak 1800s chest of drawers that once belonged to his grandmother and has clearly lived a long, well-loved life.

This one took a TON of work. Hours of stripping and sanding, serious drawer repairs (every single one), and plenty of mildew treatment with CLR and shellac. We gave it a timeless refresh with Ebony stain by Varathane, sealed it in a satin clear coat, lined the drawers, and finished it off with new iron hardware.

This piece was done for a good friend who’s always the first to show up and help us haul furniture for our custom orders, so getting to restore something so meaningful to him felt extra special. Thank you, Mike!

This little (and very old) dining set came into the shop with plenty of stories to tell. ❤️

After a deep clean, some extra-tough sanding to tone down years of heavy brush marks, and a fresh coat of Raw Silk by Fusion Mineral Paint, it’s been given a whole new lease on life.

Is it perfect? Not even close, and that’s exactly the charm.

It still has its character, its history, and all the marks that prove it was well loved. Now it’s ready for many more family meals, morning coffees, and memories around the table.

Because sometimes the beauty isn’t in flawless furniture. it’s in furniture with a past. ❄️

》》SNEAK PEEK《《

Some people may disagree, but I think those really old pieces deserve to hold onto some of their imperfections. It shows a piece of their history and gives it so much character. Could we have filled every little pinhole and fixed every imperfection on this set? Sure. But we didn't and I'm happy with that choice.

This just got a fresh coat of paint, but it looks so much brighter. Stay tuned for more photos!

☆☆Your new finish is only as good as your prep underneath it all.☆☆

This dining set of a table and four chairs is just getting a fresh coat of paint and clear coat. But it's not "just a coat of paint."

I've got about four hours of prep just into the chairs. See the difference just after a cleaning? This time, it wasn't just a spray and wipe of TSP, but some soap and hot water with a more abrasive sponge, because they had so much grime buildup. If the grime isn't removed, then the new paint won't adhere. That along with a TON of hand sanding to try to eliminate the brush strokes from the previous paint job, makes for a lengthy prep session. It's still very far from perfect, but significantly better than it was!

There are times I hear sanders in my sleep. We've got THREE of our TEN different sanding tools going on this side of an old dresser. But they make the magic happen and it's going to be so worth it! ✨️
