Finished this a while ago!
They had a great idea for painted lowers and oak stained upper cabinets! My wife and I sat out in the shop one evening with the clients. Us guys had a couple of beers and wine for the girls. We painted some boards with different colors of paint that they were thinking about, then used measuring cups to mix different colors of stain to come up with their custom color. I made a board with all of the colors that we came up with and sprayed it with finish so that they could put it in different parts of their kitchen to see how the colors changed with natural light vs the lights from their ceiling lights.
I built some very customized cabinets to fit their needs for storing the things that they have in places that make sense with the flow of the kitchen.
Dave, Adam and crew of D&D Construction did a great job with remodeling and installation of the cabinets!

Finished another small job today.
Customers had a kitchen desk. Many 90’s houses have these and I don’t think that I have seen one used for a desk in a long time. They are normally just another flat space for things to land on.
They wanted something that would give them more storage. They liked the pigeon holes in the upper cabinet to put mail in.
The cabinets are made of red oak and finished with clear lacquer, no stain. They are going to paint the kitchen cabinets to give the kitchen a more modern look. I built with oak so that they would have the same grain after painting as the rest of the kitchen.
The first picture is before! The picture of me with my trusty Stanley #4 smoothing plane is me scribing and fitting the wall.

It has been four years since I started full time in the shop. I finally carved out some time to do a fairly large project on our house!
My dad helped frame in the pool deck and my beautiful bride helped with flooring and hand rails.
We have created a small oasis in our back yard! We have watched the sun set and lights turn on as much as the weather has allowed! I am really looking forward to this summer!
I am back in the shop now. I have a few small jobs right now but starting bigger jobs next month!
While I am a little sad to be working inside again, I love this journey that we are on!

I am cleaning up the shop today after delivering my biggest kitchen cabinet job, to date!
I thought that this would be an interesting picture.
My branding iron and the 115 year old Stanley #4 smoothing plane that I use on almost every job!

Thank you all for the support and following the fun stuff that I get to do! You keep my phone ringing!

It is not really a job, but more of a passion! I get to design and create great things and bring people’s dreams to reality!

I had the opportunity to build kitchen cabinets for another great family!
We had some small challenges but we were able to overcome them all.
The kitchen turned out absolutely beautiful! These pictures were taken prior to the cooktop, sink, and backsplah being installed. I typically don’t get the chance to make it back after everything is done.
Dan Allard and crew did a great job with the remodeling and installation of the cabinets.
The pantry door was a bit of a challenge to figure out how to make that dream come true! I did not build the pantry cabinets, that was a previous project.

I had an opportunity to attend the Dennis Zongker School of Woodworking this last weekend, for his jewelry box class. It was a very long 3 days.

We had 4 students in his beautiful home shop that is set up for teaching different aspects of woodworking.

Dennis is a very humble, great guy. I loved spending these 3 days with him, his wife, and the other students.

Patty (his wife) is an amazing woman! She made us breakfast and lunch every day so that we didn’t have to leave to eat.

I can use these skills to offer more intricate pieces in the future.

This chapter of my life is a wild ride! I have had great customers, and some big challenges! I love to challenge myself to see how far I can go! So far I have been able to pull off all WINS!
