It has been four years since I started full time in the shop. I finally carved out some time to do a fairly large project on our house!
My dad helped frame in the pool deck and my beautiful bride helped with flooring and hand rails.
We have created a small oasis in our back yard! We have watched the sun set and lights turn on as much as the weather has allowed! I am really looking forward to this summer!
I am back in the shop now. I have a few small jobs right now but starting bigger jobs next month!
While I am a little sad to be working inside again, I love this journey that we are on!
Thank you all for following me on it!

I got to do another job in this house. This time we made a bar in the dining room, floating walnut night stands, and a barnwood folding table in the laundry room.
Thank you again Jennifer and Gene! You guys are doing a great job on your home!

I am cleaning up the shop today after delivering my biggest kitchen cabinet job, to date!
I thought that this would be an interesting picture.
My branding iron and the 115 year old Stanley #4 smoothing plane that I use on almost every job!
I will post pictures after the contractor remodels the kitchen. Stay tuned!!

Thank you everyone for all of the encouraging comments!

I have a busy schedule this year!
Thank you all for the support and following the fun stuff that I get to do! You keep my phone ringing!

It is not really a job, but more of a passion! I get to design and create great things and bring people’s dreams to reality!
Time to get off of my phone and make more saw dust!

I had the opportunity to build kitchen cabinets for another great family!
We had some small challenges but we were able to overcome them all.
The kitchen turned out absolutely beautiful! These pictures were taken prior to the cooktop, sink, and backsplah being installed. I typically don’t get the chance to make it back after everything is done.
Dan Allard and crew did a great job with the remodeling and installation of the cabinets.
The pantry door was a bit of a challenge to figure out how to make that dream come true! I did not build the pantry cabinets, that was a previous project.
Thank you to Peter and Marlene for having me help build your dream kitchen!

I had an opportunity to attend the Dennis Zongker School of Woodworking this last weekend, for his jewelry box class. It was a very long 3 days.

We had 4 students in his beautiful home shop that is set up for teaching different aspects of woodworking.

Dennis is a very humble, great guy. I loved spending these 3 days with him, his wife, and the other students.

Patty (his wife) is an amazing woman! She made us breakfast and lunch every day so that we didn’t have to leave to eat.

I can use these skills to offer more intricate pieces in the future.

If you are interested in learning new woodworking skills, check out his website: denniszongker.com
I know that I will be going back!

Hopefully you will be seeing more stuff like this in the days ahead!
This chapter of my life is a wild ride! I have had great customers, and some big challenges! I love to challenge myself to see how far I can go! So far I have been able to pull off all WINS!
Thank you all for following me on this journey and keeping the saw dust flying!

This was about a 3’x8’ half bath. They did not use this bathroom and decided to make it into a pantry. It was very difficult to get pictures because of the size of the room and the placement of the door.
It turned out nice and very functional for them. All of the drawers and shelves are adjustable up/down.
They are going to have someone install a stone countertop.
Thank you Jennifer and Gene for having me do a second job for you! I know of a couple more jobs in the future that you are looking at!

This is part 2 of the curved cabinet post that I made a while back!

It has taken me a bit to post this, I needed to figure out what I wanted to say on this job.
About 5 years ago I picked up a kitchen cabinet job. I got back to the shop and called my dad to have him email CAD drawings of how he built cabinets. I had never really built cabinets before that.
In February, I received a call from Case and Joscelyn. What an amazing couple! They have fantastic (and very challenging) ideas! When Joscelyn told me that she wanted a curved corner, half of me said to run, the other half was saying “you got this”!
I went home and drew it up, then decided to take the job. I made it very clear that I had never built, or even seen, cabinets like this! Thankfully, they took a chance on me!
I sketched up what I thought they were looking for. We changed a few things on the design, then I built a mock up and got the design approved. We added a few things along the way, and Voilà!
This was by far the most difficult and long job that I have done. This took me over five months. Most of that time was trying to figure out how to do the next step!
Case and Joscelyn, thank you so much for having faith in me, and for being so patient. I really enjoyed working with you guys.
I am looking forward to working with you again! We have already started discussing future projects!

I wasn’t going to post anything on this job until I was completely done. However, I have been working on it for a couple of months and may have a couple of months left. There is a lot more cabinetry and detail to this job.
I also think that this part deserves its own post!
I had some great customers (great family and thankfully very patient ) present the challenge of creating a curved corner. I had to do it! I walked miles around my bench scratching my head, drank some beers, lost a bunch of sleep, and pulled off the first concave cabinet with doors! The upper cabinets don’t get doors. I believe the hardest part is behind me.
The curved cabinet wasn’t too difficult to build but those doors took 2-1/2 weeks to figure out. There was a seperate jig for every cut! I have put some pictures of jigs, coopering, bent lamination, steam bending, routering, etc.
Please stay tuned. I am very excited to get this job in the books and show all of you pictures when it is done!
Thank you all for following and the support!
Off to making more saw dust!!
