Kitchen makeover has been done for several months, we have been busy with other projects, but finally decided to post before and after pics. It all started with a test.... stenciling the backsplash! After seeing how awesome it looked, I couldn't stop. Let's just say... It was not as easy as the diy videos show, it did take some time, carefully aligning the stencil, making sure it didn't look askew or misaligned. After the backsplash was done I had to keep going.
I'm blessed with a husband who loves to build things, who has the creativity and can see things in his mind before building it. I asked him to build me a custom wood hood, he didn't hesitate. He did an amazing job, exactly what I asked for. I painted the walls a light gray, changed the hardware, added some crown moulding, and finished it with some new decor. What a difference all these little changes made! You don't have to spend thousands of dollars to do a makeover. Loving our new humble little modern farmhouse kitchen!

It was only a test, to see how it would look. It's been a long time since I've picked up a brush. I decided to try it on our kitchen backsplash and it turned out amazingly beautiful, it motivated us to keep going and give our kitchen a long overdue makeover without breaking the bank, because getting new cabinets is not an option. We are painting walls, ordering new hardware, new creative blacksplash, building a wood project to give it a focal point, and lastly some changes to the decor. Hoping to finish with our "Modern Farmhouse Kitchen" in a couple of weekends.
Anxious to start, with bad lighting and all managed to take these before pictures.

Finally finished, another 2 spectacular transformations, by Simply Viv!!! I can't even believe how beautiful they are!!!
Two of a kind solid wood, gorgeous his and hers Art Deco Waterfall dressers from the 1930s and 1940s, are now available to purchase.
These pieces are not products of China like you'd find at Hobby Lobby or Homegoods.
I spent an incredible amount of time and work as you can see in the before pictures. It was basically taking pieces that were vandalized , removing up to 3 layers of paint even in the nooks and crannies of sides of drawers, permanent marker graffiti and countless repairs to the wood, and transforming them to their new revived condition you see now.
She was hand painted in a beautiful blush, a new color trend which works well with many other shades to go with your decor. He was hand painted in a navy blue and the top and drawers were stained. This piece has evidence of the previous owners handiwork, filling in the outer holes of its original hardware which I believe adds more character. They both have great deep drawers, received new hardware and were sealed for protection.

*** All furniture items are vintage/used and minor signs of wear should be expected due to age. Keep in mind, "the signs of wear" is what gives them character. I put alot of work and finish time into my furniture pieces and prepare them as if they will go into my own personal space.

What I've been working on for what seems like an eternity now. These 2 pieces needed a lot of work, 3 layers of paint to strip and some repairs. I've been taking my time with them and I'm hoping they'll be soon. I always like to check out hobby lobby first for new hardware and unfortunately I'll have to wait for the stores to open. Here are pictures of the process, transforming these ugly ducklings into beautiful swans.

Enjoying this gorgeous weather in SWFL today and working on some detail work on my next project, cleaning the cracks and crevices of the piece is part of the job.
His and hers dressers, they are getting a complete overhaul, still a while to go before the reveal but stay tuned.

I decided to place it behind our family room sofa to take pictures of it and we are loving the way it looks in this space 😍. It is hard to make things you love because you end up wanting to keep them all, even if it's for a little while. 😍😊 ❤
