Five Little Fingers Production

Five Little Fingers Production A creative outlet to revive well-made items into timeless treasures. Upcycling provides an opportunity for everyone to have beauty in their home.

Five Little Fingers began fifteen years ago out of my passion for reinventing furniture. It has become more than a business to me; I have made life long friendships with many of my clients, and I count it a privilege to design custom pieces for homes across the U.S. As an Military Spouse, we always rent our homes. As a renter, I prefer not painting the walls but painting my furniture to give us th

e color we need. I started painting all of the furniture in our home. I loved how a custom piece of furniture could make a room feel like home- even 1000 miles from family. We are completely self taught in my trade, and my techniques are the result of trying, failing, and trying again. Over the years, Five Little Fingers has grown- but I still hand paint every piece and I would love to custom create furniture for you

Well, after moving and finally settling in, I am finally back at it. Commissioned to do a painting on glass by neighbor and it is proving to be a new challenge for me. So excited though. Before I leave Colorado, if anyone has windows they want me to do, let me know. DH is going away so I will have time.

Many people ask me about refinishing fine furniture. I always tell them the same thing...take your time and do it right. I personally think its a crime to paint vintage wood. First, the construction is far above what we can get today. Second, the wood from long ago is what is called "slow growth". This means that the wood harvested took many, many years to grow. Now, trees are planted and fed lots of nitrogen to grow quickly. This creates a situation where the grain is much looser and and not as hard. This Silent Butler Chest is an example.

For those who have had me redo their furniture, I would appreciate feedback and pics. I love to redo furniture and it helps so others can see your joy.
