I always tell myself I am going to post more. Then I don't. But, that doesn't mean I haven't had some really cool stuff in the workroom this year! An awesome pair of MCM chairs I did many months back. Rebuilt the back and removed the loose cushion which wasn't original to the chair, but added by the previous upholsterer.

Another client mixing it up and keeping me on my toes! Really enjoyed the process with her and giving her the one of a kind chair she envisioned.

Two more family pieces passed down to live on for many more years. Also, a great example of how pictures can be deceiving. When I received a picture of the antique chair for a ballpark estimate I never would have guessed how small it was! So, if I really mess up your yardage on the pics you have sent via messenger or text ...don't hate me. ๐Ÿ˜Š Loved these fabrics and enjoyed bringing these back to pretty.

I really don't think my customer could have been more spot on when choosing her fabric for this antique settee that was passed down to her. Gorgeous choice and I feel fortunate to help keep this beauty in her lovely family for many more years.

Over the years I have worked on many pieces that have sentimental value to my customers. They have a story, memories. I find things in the cracks that they have lost and don't remember losing. It makes me happy to get a smile, hug or tears when I deliver their piece back to them. This summer I re-upholstered a chair for my oldest son's first college apartment (with his help) that has been in my family since I was young. My dad bought the frame when he owned his upholstery shop. He built it from the frame up and his name is written inside it from when he ordered it. I grew up with it upholstered in a blue velvet and it sat in our living room. When my kids were little I upholstered it for my home (no clue why I chose the upholstery I did, it might have been sale fabric, ikes). It has been in the corner of my shop for years now with a drop cloth on it. I found memories of my kiddos in that chair. A missing puzzle piece, game pieces, nerf gun discs. The memories just flooded back. Loved every minute of my time with my son upholstering this chair. Just a little video of the process. New foam, no skirt, stained the legs and changed the inner back. All things that my son and I worked together on to make it what he wanted.

I have been slacking on posting pictures of the really great furniture I have worked on this year. I will get caught up eventually on posting. This furniture was redone for customers I have worked with several times and every time I do work for them I enjoy it (and them) even more! They had minor changes they wanted to make. No buttons (dust collectors) and adding a coordinating welt. I loved both changes.

Sometimes during times like this you need a little dose of cute and fun, so we added to our family and I am hoping he will love hanging out in my shop with me. Meet Oakley...he enjoys long walks, puppy ice cream cups at the local soft serve shop, cuddling with his sister, rolling in the mud and eating pine cones or anything else he isn't supposed to eat. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ

2020 marks my 20th year in business. When I started Cramer Coverings I never would have envisioned my 20th year starting out like this. Actually, I donโ€™t think I even envisioned that I would make it to 20 years way back then. But, I did! I built this business, love what I do, and I have no intention of throwing in the towel. With that being said I am still open and working, but will only be doing phone/dm estimates for new customers. In home estimates will resume when this storm clears. I am also able to deliver fabric sample books to you via porch drop off.

On a personal note, it has been heartbreaking for me to see so many small businesses, and people in general, hurt by this situation. I know the passion and dedication it takes to start and keep a small business thriving. From the upholstery and design businesses I follow on social media in other countries to the small businesses here in the United States and in Findlay, Ohio, my heart is with you. On a local level I have been amazed at how my community in Findlay has pulled together to help each other in these difficult times. I see the stories daily on social media and it reassures me that we will all get through this together, even if we are socially distanced.

It seems as though I might have a bit more free time on my hands. With that time I plan to work on some projects that I will be listing for sale. I am a bit of a fabric and furniture hoarder and now I might finally have time to bring some of my own ideas to life. My hope is to have some fun with it on my page and use part of the proceeds to do some gift card giveaways to help support other small businesses.

Stay tunedโ€ฆand thank you so much to every customer over the last 20 years that has trusted me to make their furniture pretty again. - Alisha
