Do you remember in my previous post when I told you I’d soon share about Joe's “BIG Oppsie”?
Well, it’s time to spill it in detail!
So, a few days ago, Joe had a little accident due to his overwork and tiredness. He was cleaning brushes and accidentally came in contact with our Kingston Hardware faucet with a paint stripper, which he shouldn't have. It was a total disaster. However, surprisingly, to him, it turned out to be a happy accident for me!
Wondering why? 🤔
Let me explain. 😁
While designing the sink, I had ordered a $380.00+ faucet with a black finish from Kingston Hardware to match the other elements in the kitchen, but they sent me an antiqued bronze finish instead, which didn't match anything else in our renovation. 🤦🏻♀️ Since we had completed the custom sink by the time it arrived, we needed a faucet immediately, and I had to make a choice. Either I could send it back and wait for another one, or I could get creative and find a way to make it work. I went with the latter and have been secretly loathing it ever since. 😩
This loathing didn’t just stop with the color. The quality of the finish was also poor. 😒
It would scratch if you looked at it funny.
We had to be extremely cautious around it. But, when Joe accidentally dripped paint stripper on the head of the faucet, he was terrified that it had ruined my design. But, to his surprise, I loved the gunmetal finish underneath!! And wasted no time in telling him to strip it all off.
Doing so matched the farmhouse light above the sink and aged it a bit. Causing it to pair even more pleasant with the 1928 sink. Now we ALL love it, 🥰 and we don't have to worry about damaging it anymore. 😁
In conclusion, we still love Kingston Brass, but we will never recommend their faux finish faucets to anyone, especially in homes with a functioning family that loves cooking and entertaining. It's not worth the headache, and they are better suited for Instagram photos and model homes. 😉
