Woohoo. How exciting... please stream and share our friend Johnathan Len's great music video filmed at Fajitaville in beautiful North Beach Corpus Christi.

If you look closely you'll see Kevin and me in a few of the scenes. What fun it was to be able to see the filming of the video and an honor to be able to call Johnathan our friend.

If you haven't seen this amazing guy perform please do so if you have the chance. His schedule is posted on his page and his website at JohnathanLen.com

Oldies 95 Western Caribbean Cruise with Dick Wilson and Katie McGuckin.

Sailed out of Galveston TX. Cruised with Barb's brother Bob and sister-in-law Joyce, Barb's brother Glen and sister-in-law Dixie and our lifetime friends Allan and Melinda Unger. Had an amazing time. Many great memories with great folks. One of the highlights on the cruise was Derek Lewis' "Kamikaze Karaoke". We skipped the cruise ship shows to catch his performances in the bar. Check him out on Facebook at FiveMinuteParty

Oldies 95 Nassau Bahama's Cruise with Dick Wilson and Katie McGuckin.

Between 2003 and 2011 our RV adventures were mostly weekend camping and fishing trips with friends and family. We started doing an annual cruise with the DJ's and fans of a local radio station in Kansas City -- Oldies 95. This was our first cruise and it was a blast. Barb's brother Glen Johnson and sister-in-law Dixie Johnson joined in on the fun.

From April 29th 2019 - A year ago we started this new adventure! So glad with all that is going on we wintered in Texas vs Florida.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s official. Kevin and I will soon be full-timer RV’ers. We have been planning and working towards this for 15+ years. We are looking forward to re-connecting with family and friends, as well as, exploring and enjoying new adventures and travel. We put our house on the market April 5th and it sold within 10 days; closing date is May 29th. This past month we have been dealing with the daunting task of deciding what to move into storage, what to keep in the camper and what to sell. We are having an estate sale May 4th and 5th. Once the closing on the house is done, we plan to spend a couple months in Kahoka MO. If you are thinking where in the heck is Kahoka MO and why there, it’s on the Missouri/Iowa border (25 miles from Keokuk IA) and please see my post regarding moving my mother into a nursing home for the reason ‘why’. We plan to be back in Topeka the last week of August to participate in the Downtown Adventure Race in Topeka (DART) with Kevin and Haley McCord, and Steve and Lony Lewis. Eventually we will head to the East coast as we have reservations to winter in Florida with my brother (Bob) and sister-in-law (Pam). Kevin will work from the camper for a while. We will post our whereabouts on Facebook in hopes that as we travel through cities we can meet up with family and friends.

Flashback Friday – Year 2002.

Primary destination for this RV trip was to the ‘House on the Rock’ in Madison WI. Highly recommend visiting this place if you can. The pictures and videos we have do not do it justice. It’s eccentric, unbelievable, hard to explain. The house is built atop a chimney of rock. In one of the rooms there is literally a ‘carousel’, another room has a life-size mechanically operated symphony orchestra. Several buildings and rooms of extraordinary items and some breathtaking views. We thought it was well worth it, have gone back once since this trip and will probably go back again. We also enjoyed the Ringling Brothers show and Circus World Museum in Baraboo WI. Toured the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo WI. Took a 'Duck' ride. Checked out Tommy Bartlett’s Water Ski and Jumping Boat Thrill Show. And, was able to get a horseback ride in; however, it was a head to tail trail ride.

All other RV trips were weekend lake trips with family and friends. Barb was traveling a lot, doing training for the Coast Guard, and we started doing annual cruises with a couple DJ’s and several fans from a local radio station in KC (Oldies 95). Our schedules didn’t allow much time for long RV trips, so we did weekend lake trips whenever we could.

Flashback Friday – Year 2001.
First trip was late February to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Barb’s former commanding officer got us fantastic seats for the parades. Bourbon street was very lively; cannot post some of the pics. Had a great time.

Little did we know in February that Barb would be recalled to active duty to New Orleans after 9/11. She was on active duty in New Orleans until right before Christmas. During that time Kevin and his parents visited over Thanksgiving. We cruised (fam tour) Lake Pontchartrain on a Coast Guard 41’ Utility Boat (UTB) and toured Mardi Gras World. Barb’s friend Melinda Unger visited, and they explored numerous plantations and downtown New Orleans.

Second trip was in May to Oklahoma City OK, Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, San Antonio, and Bandera TX. Toured the Oklahoma City National Memorial, a very somber site. Was having so much fun at Schlitterbahn we forgot to take pictures (or can’t find them). The water roller coaster was our favorite! Then on to the Alamo and Riverwalk in San Antonio. Saved the best for last.. horseback riding in Bandera (hill country) with a private wrangler. Had an amazing ride and didn’t stop even when it started raining.

Flashback Friday -- year 2000. First motorhome trip to Erie, Niagara Falls, Hershey, Gettysburg, Williamsburg, Jamestown and Charlottesville (Monticello). We covered a lot of miles (2771) in 10 days. Highlights of the trip.. visiting Kevin's grandmother in Erie, boat ride in Niagara Falls, chocolate in Hershey, and horseback riding across the battlefield in Gettysburg with stereo headsets (really cool).

Lessons learned..
1. Cut up the watermelon before leaving home or be more careful when opening the fridge if the motorhome is in motion. It did not fair well when it rolled out of the fridge and ended up all over the floor. Fresh out of our garden; the one and only we have ever grown.
2. Allow more time... too many miles and not enough days.

Other than that, had a great time and great memories.

Roving Lyon Style

Energetic and strong, lions (aka Lyon) respect strength in others and have no time for subtlety. Their moods are demonstrated with abandon, from yawning in public to growling at impudent inferiors, and they feel no need to follow social etiquette.
