Hey flipping family, 🙌🥳I wanted to share a major listing strategy that I don’t think many flippers realize, we have a massive opportunity to highlight. When we list furniture, we usually focus entirely on aesthetics—the style (MCM, Boho, Traditional), the wood type, or the pretty paint color. But we are completely missing a massive selling point that applies to the general population: the incredible health, eco, and quality benefits of buying restored vintage over brand-new furniture.
Next time you are writing a description for Marketplace, try highlighting these points to attract high-paying buyers who might not care about vintage, but do care about their home environment: Instead of fighting the race to the bottom against cheap, disposable furniture prices, highlighting these facts in your listing changes the narrative. It turns our work into a healthy, high-quality, eco-friendly investment for any home.
*When listing, You can highlight these facts if you have a wooden piece.
-Eco-Friendly / Sustainable Furniture
-Solid Wood (No MDF / No Particle Board)
-Hypoallergenic storage

* Listing Phrase to use:
“Eco-friendly and sustainable. Heirloom quality Solid wood adding character to your space.”

*Listing Phrase: “Eco Friendly Heavy, sturdy heirloom quality built to survive daily family life.”

-Shifting the narrative from just "Hey look, a pretty dresser" to "This is a healthy, chemical-free investment that can help families with children , elderly and anyone with allergies etc. We can justify a higher price point and cut through the lowballers on FBMP.

Have you tried using any quality or health-focused keywords like this in your general listings? Let’s talk in the comments! 🛠️👇

Are you trying to flip furniture but your pieces just aren't selling?
The secret is in your demographics!🎯
To help you get a better idea of who you’re selling to, look up the demographics of the population in your specific area. In some cases this really helps me determine how to finish and market my products. I just type in google a couple questions to get the answers I need and that gives me a great understanding of who I am marketing to. At the same time, I also have peices that I plan and design to sell to the general population. This particular questioning gives me specific ideas for marketing to families which in my area is a somewhat larger portion of the population.
-Question : can you give me a percentage of families in my area compared to the rest of population?
-Answer: .According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, break down as follows:
•Family Households: 62.8%
•Non-Family Households: 37.2%
Then the next question would be.
•Question: because my area has a large population of families how should I go about designing and marketing my dresser?
•Answer: Marketing Strategies to Reach Local Parents.
To successfully flip this piece, your listings need to speak directly to the daily lives of parents.
-1. Frame the Dresser as a "Solution"Parents are constantly looking for ways to hide clutter. In your listing title and description, use searchable keywords that emphasize utility. Don't just list it as a "Refinished Dresser." Instead, pitch it as, “Nursery changing table with plenty of diaper storage"
“Sturdy kids' room dresser"
“Board game and toy storage for the living room"
-2. Highlight "Kid-Friendly" FeaturesExplicitly mention the practical steps you took during the refinishing process. Parents are willing to pay a premium for peace of mind. In your description, write:
“Finished with a non-toxic, ultra-durable topcoat that easily wipes clean."
“All drawers glide smoothly" (crucial for parents holding a baby in one arm).
*Bonus Tip: Offer to include a free furniture anti-tip safety anchor kit.
*Mentioning this in your ad shows you understand family needs and immediately builds trust.
-3. Stage the Photos for Family staging or messy background photos will kill a listing. Move the dresser to a well-lit area and style the top to help parents visualize it. Stage it with a few children's books, a small stuffed animal, or a cute lamp. Keep the decor minimal so the focus remains entirely on the craftsmanship of the dresser.
-4. Where to Post
Since you are targeting a highly localized demographic, utilize platforms where neighborhood parents congregate:
Facebook Marketplace: Cross-post the listing into local "Buy/Sell/Trade" groups and neighborhood family/mom groups.
-Nextdoor: This app is heavily populated by local homeowners and families looking for nearby items.
-Offer Delivery: Many families drive compact SUVs or sedans packed with car seats, making it impossible for them to haul a large dresser. If you can offer local curbside delivery (even for a small $20–$40 fee), you will instantly double your pool of potential buyers.

I got this jewelry dresser I was working on .. I’m hoping to get it finished for my granddaughter ❤️🥳🙌 I have been thinking about what to do with it. I ordered a few things but it was covered in falling apart tin and glue! This one definitely is changing.. but I had to take a few days off because I pulled a intercostal muscle yikes that was painful ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹so I’m just doing little things here n there right now I’ll be able to be back in full swing soon time to think about design plans too👍 Do any of you have suggestions?

Let’s talk about Bakelight! Some of these old waterfall dressers have the original bakelight hardware on them . Each drawer pull can fetch around 75.00-200 🥳🙌 If you find a waterfall dresser, you definitely want to double check It’s hardware and make sure you keep the old hardware on it when you flip it because it increases the value of the dresser itself. Don’t remove the hardware and sell it separately. If you sell it with the dresser, you can make more money that way. Mainly I try n re-sell the peice and leave the hardware on and just restore the top and clean the rest up and fix any lifting.. so that way I have no issues with removing the original hardware. But you can take them off…
* Restoring Cautions * Be very gentle when removing it as it can get brittle over time. -Don’t use power screwdrivers or take a screwdriver to pry it off or tighten the screws too tight and break it.
-Use wd-40 to loosen the back screws to take it off.
*Cleaning the hardware*
Wash in warm water with dawn and a toothbrush.
After that you can use brasso on the rest of the metal part.

-How to test it to make sure its bake light -
Rub (Friction) Test
-Take your bare thumb and rub a section of the handle vigorously for 10 to 20 seconds.
The Result: The friction will heat up the plastic. Immediately bring the handle close to your nose. If it is original Bakelite, you will smell a distinct, chemically, carbolic acid or formaldehyde odor. As opposed to Modern plastic, it will smell like nothing or a sweet waxy smell.

*The History of bake light*
The Invention (1907): Belgian-American chemist Leo Baekeland invented Bakelite in New York by combining phenol and formaldehyde under heat and pressure.
The Material of a Thousand Uses: Patented in 1909, it was the first thermosetting plastic (a plastic that keeps its permanent rigid shape once heated and set).
Industrial Boom (1920s–1940s): It quickly replaced wood, metal, bone, and natural rubber in everyday objects, architectural fixtures, and cabinet hardware.
Why was It So Popular?
Heat Resistance: It does not melt or burn easily, making it perfect for appliance handles, stove k***s, and kitchen drawer pulls.
Electrical Safety: As a non-conductor of electricity, it became extremely popular for many electrical switches etc.
Affordability: During the Great Depression, it allowed manufacturers to produce stylish, colorful domestic goods and hardware economically.

Thank you 🙏 to all my followers 🥳🙌🤩!!
Im liking this Saman gel stain product you can scuff sand and stain so it cuts down on sanding time. Also you can go over it more than once or just leave it on and top coat it. It’s nice n thick and rich! This one is in walnut it’s a touch red but I put one coat on and then put the second coat on n left it on and then put my usual go to top coat general finishes on. This is glossy but I might try matte on the frame. General finishes is expensive BUT it is a rock solid product n out lasts other brands like minwax by up to ten years and it’s self leveling so that really makes a big difference. One quart lasts for several projects too
All the best to you today! Stay flipping awesome!! 😎

A couple more scams going on right now on Facebook marketplace are.. people fake selling items that they accept Venmo deposit for n steal your deposit and have no real items to sell .. others are… they want you to call a cell number to access info on the phone etc. Then there Venmo and Cash App hacks with codes etc. I strictly deal with cash at the time of picking up now, after finding out about these. cash at sale in the description. I’ve even heard of people canceling a transaction with Venmo after the sale n pick up too! I mention that to avoid scammers. Be sure to report n block them!
*Here is a script to help* "Thanks for the interest! To ensure a safe transaction for both of us, I only communicate via facebook messenger and accept cash in-person at the time of pickup. Let me know what day and time you'd like to come see it?” The Photo is my latest dressers new drawer liners I put in, loving the ❤️ dandelions!

This is a vintage Conant Ball dresser I’m refinishing.😎❤️‍🩹I had a lot of details to fix and I put a new lip and corner on this drawer using a hot glue gun technique, where you put the olive oil over a good corner and then hot glue gun it all over and that makes a mold for the missing parts.. so you can actually replace a corner that’s been totally cracked off. I think it worked well but because of the imperfections I did have to paint the drawers. I did a heirloom paint custom color combo of woodlands and London- I’m calling it “desert sage”. I have some new gold hardware for it and and plan to put an antique gold French damask detail on the second drawer in the center. After that I was considering a transfer or a custom painting. But if I really like it as is then I’ll just have to line the drawers and list! I used a walnut stain by Saman. The finish product will be ready soon! 🙌🥳

I just wanted to remind everyone that this is what the local market is selling at 300 bucks n up, and most of it It is not even real wood plus the finishes look mediocre at best.. so don’t get discouraged about it all being “perfect” keep flipping n doing your best but try not to worry too much about small imperfections. Occasionally I have to remind myself that too, because the OCD kicks in lol 😂
