If you haven’t heard yet, the Knotty Burl took a devastating hit the evening of the 23rd. Our neighborhood took a direct hit from an EF-4 tornado. We pretty much lost everything. The family and I are safe and unharmed. Made it to our shelter, shelter door was covered in rubble, took about 30 minutes for rescuers to get to is. My shop was heavily damaged. Most of the equipment and tools I should be able to salvage. I will rebuild and continue my work. To all that have pending orders, there will be a significant delay until I can get a shop rebuilt. If you want to cancel an order I understand, just let me know. If you have sent me material to create a project, I have recovered said material from the rubble!

One of my absolute favorite retirement gifts that I was commissioned to work on. Full size Combat Infantry Badge(CIB)!! The unit bought a replica 1795 Springfield flintlock Infantry Musket and wanted a cool plaque to mount it on. Solid oak with black walnut rifle mounts.

Was commissioned by an older gentleman to make 5 knives out of a couple of unserviceable shotguns that had been in his family for many years. He gifted the knives to family members to pass down in the future.
Since there are several people that get offended by using the term“Damascus”, I will be calling my pattern welded steel Knotty-mascus!
Blades are several layers of gun barrel and 15n20 stacked and forge welded, cut, restacked, forge welded again, then repeated again. Then took those billets and forge welded a piece of 1084 carbon steel as a core for the cutting edge. The pommels are more of the same, guards where canister Knotty-mascus, dropping chunks of gun receiver, springs, small screws and such from the receiver and 1084 powder in a canister and forge welded into solid steel.
The handles are made from the gunstocks, one was pine and the other was maple.
Was a fun and challenging build!
