Paddlin' for MB

Paddlin' for MB Competitive Dragon Boat team which paddles in honor of Marybeth McGill, the team's founder. Based out of Dekalb,IL, we compete around the Midwest.

We are Paddlin' for MB, a competitive dragon boat team. This team was created by Marybeth McGill in 2008, originally named 'Flying Ears' after the well known DeKalb Agricultural Association logo. In December of 2010, despite being a lifetime non-smoker and living a healthy lifestyle, Marybeth was diagnosed with lung cancer. Following Marybeth's diagnosis, the team was committed to continue racing

, with an added purpose - to make Marybeth proud. Thus, the name 'Paddlin' for MB' was born. In June 2011, she was able to witness her namesake team clench the top division title and take part in an emotional award ceremony. Sadly, that was her last race. Whether you've seen our neon orange shirts or heard our signature mid-paddle "MB" chant, we hope that for a moment, you've thought of Marybeth. She continues to be an inspiration to this team as we strive to reach bigger and better goals. "No one fights alone"

We are happy to announce that we have accepted a small boat berth to the club crew world championships in 2020. Marybeth's crew is going international to compete against the best on earth.

This is our crews finish yesterday in the premier mixed "A" division final yesterday at the GWN Chicago international dragon boat festival. A picture is worth a thousand words. Next stop is the USDBF national championship in Colorado springs, Colorado.

We will be starting our off season training on January 6, 2019 at the Kishwaukee Family YMCA!
It is a great workout for those who are current paddlers, future paddlers or anyone looking for a great challenging workout! This class is open to anyone whether or not you are a member of the YMCA. P4MB would like to have you come join us for some great workouts!

Class time is Sunday’s at 8:30 am - 10 am
