Saving one plastic bag from landfills one bag at a time!

Basket finished, the one from previous post. Was working on another one before finishing this one. I find it’s difficult to start one & make it from start to finish. I get bored and have to work on a couple at a time. 🙂. Approx., 30 hrs to complete.

Recycled plastic basket that I’m working on now. Using thicker bags, which makes for a sturdier, heavy duty basket.

Prepping/separating newspapers, grocery, supermarket and bread bags for making Plarn (plastic yarn) for new bags & baskets.

Hello, Thank you for checking out my page. I’d like to share a little information about me & my plastic bags & baskets and how I started creating with recycled plastic.
I began making bags & baskets from plastic after being inspired by a fellow Artisan who showed me how to make Plarn (plastic yarn).
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. 11/11/11 to be exact! I started making more and more bags.
It was a wonderful activity to do, as I could take it anywhere and crochet in the car, in appts., etc. it helped me significantly on my healing journey through Cancer. I began to sell them @ Art/Craft shows that I participated in with my small business, Earth Spirit Designs, in which I sold handcrafted gourd items.
To my surprise, they were much appreciated & I sold some! This inspired me to start this page where I could post my bags. I took a break from making them, but now I’m beginning to get back to where I left off.
Since there is still so many plastic bags out there, I like to utilize them while they are still in existence and create a more sustainable product. I enjoy the process and it helps in eliminating more plastic polluting & harming the animals & our environment. I invite you to follow me to see new pieces.

Thanks for visiting, Jaynie
