Good morning ☀️

I always love what a beautiful refresh can do. This piece was in rough shape. I often wonder how these gorgeous pieces become so damaged. Instead of smashing it into smithereens further, it now is refreshed and gorgeous for many more years to come. I always get excited as the process moves along and the finish piece is revealing itself. I love all of the ta-da moments!

This week I'm working on a desk for a new Masters degree graduate. She's been a friend for a long time and I'm honored to work on something as she starts her new journey. A sophisticated desk with a little whimsy and girlyness of course. She's a special lady in my heart and deserves the best.

"Saturday White" for this gorgeous Saturday evening!

I LOVE how this piece turned out. This hutch was in rough shape when we purchased it. The top was missing part of the trim, the drawer was broken, it was super dirty, broken trim on the door and a leg was falling off. Most would've walked away but my carpenter 😉 knew its potential.

New paint, new stained legs (reattached), faux grass cloth backing, polished original hardware with a tad of Rub 'N Buff for shine, and plenty of cleaning and polishing.

One large drawer for all your storage needs. The top has two removable shelves, both with plate grooves.

What do you think? I wish I had the room for this beauty!!!

Happy Monday 🌼

The last few weekends have been house projects. Things you plan all winter the minute the weather breaks. The garden has been rebuilt, the new trellis, and we painted the rest of the new siding put on last fall this weekend. The next big project is a privacy fence but my energy isn't there for it yet. Allen partially tore both of his hamstrings (darn sons football game) so I want him to relax a bit the next few weeks. Despite the soreness and huge bruising, he still keeps going and hasn't taken a day off.

Back to furniture today. The weather is amazing and I'm eager to work in it.

Good morning friends! 🤣

Volleyball camp this week has my typical routine completely off. The heat isn't helping. Random tornadoes yesterday that just popped up. Mother Nature sure is frazzled. I hope everyone is safe and damage free.

I'm still working on the hutch here and there. My husband hasn't had a spare minute to repair the drawer but I begged him to get it done today so I can finish this up. It will be totally worth the wait. I spent so much time hand sanding the legs that they are darn near bare and perfect.

A gentleman purchased this yesterday for his granddaughter. How sweet he is! ☺️

Today is a furniture break while I finish up the garden. I'm late getting my things planted since we rebuilt it. Rebuilding is a lot harder but it was failing and now with cedar it isn't going anywhere for a long time. Is your garden in? Please tell me I'm not the only lat one!

I purchased a cute bedroom set last week and guess what.....its fully painted. I guess I really like to eat my words and challenge myself. 🤣

"Fablewood Mauve"

While not a color that is typical to my style, its lovely. I said it. Pink, red, purples are not me but I decided to branch out a little and challenge myself. It's just paint, I know that, but leaving your comfort zone can be a huge challenge. My mind doesn't work in girly colors, my daughter is quite the opposite. I play it safe and use colors that are soothing to my eyes and style and can be used with any color scheme.

So here is my take on "granny core" that is sweeping the trends. Thankfully I found hardware that I swear was meant to be after the twice delivered shipment of broken hardware. The floral k***s match the drawer liner (I guess I under measured despite never doing that before) perfectly. A little whimsy that is not to heavy.

This piece is solid wood but more vintage than antique. Dove tails are on the backside of the drawers. We made sure all the drawer tracks work well and attached new backing to the entire piece.

So there you have it. What do you think? Would grandma be proud? 😉 How cute would this be in a nursery, a dressing room, a glow up room, anywhere!

Reveal day!

I hope you all had a nice weekend. It rained most of the weekend here and yesterday was a mad dash to get the outdoor projects going. We actually joked Saturday felt like fall. Not cool!!

I need a bit to get good pictures. This morning light doesn't help me. I'm very excited about this piece. Hurdles didn't keep me from finishing it AND its better than I originally planned. The hardware matches perfectly!!

The look is complete!

Now I get to run and drop off a return and wait for a replacement. Why would they send porcelain handles in an envelope? Duh!

I'll have this beautiful tall dresser ready for Friday. The color, I'll admit, is quite pretty. I'm excited to see the finished look!
