Celebrate the 4th of July in Grasshopper Valley!
Spend the day surrounded by big skies, great people, live music, and hometown fun at The Grasshopper Inn in Polaris, Montana!
Kick off the morning with the Grasshopper Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at the Fire Hall from 8–11am. Then join the Peggy Birkenbuel Memorial Firecracker 5K starting at Ma Barnes’ Country Store at noon.
Relax and soak at the Elkhorn Hot Springs Pool Party from 12–4pm, compete in the Co****le Tournament at The Grasshopper Inn from 2–4pm, and enjoy live music featuring Noah Johnson at 5pm followed by Road Agents at 8pm.
Top off the night with an unforgettable fireworks show when it gets dark around 10pm!
Bring your lawn chairs, your friends, and your patriotic spirit for one of Montana’s best small-town 4th of July celebrations!

Women's Fly Fishing Learning Session : July

Monthly fly fishing sessions for women—learn seasonal strategy, hatches, trout behavior, and how to think like an experienced angler.

Aquila Women’s Fly Fishing Learning Sessions are monthly educational experiences for women who want to better understand trout behavior, seasonal conditions, and how to make smarter decisions on the water in the Rocky Mountain West.
Each session is designed to stand on its own—no prior attendance required. Whether you’re brand new or building on existing experience, you’ll walk away with practical knowledge you can immediately apply, relevant to the current season.
The focus is helping you understand not just what to do, but why it works, and how you can immediately implement that information while on the water. We'll discuss current conditions, insect hatches, fly selection, gear strategies, and more.
Hosted at the Dry Fly Saloon in the Field & Stream Lodge in Bozeman, these classroom-style sessions combine structured teaching with open Q&A in a relaxed, social setting.
Your ticket includes one drink token that can be used for a rail cocktail, happy hour beer or wine option, or N/A beverage. Additional drinks and/or food are available for purchase.

Montana snowpack rapidly melted in May

Throughout May, warm temperatures across Montana led to a rapid melt off of the state’s snowpack, which sits “largely below 50% of median,” as of June 1.
