The app created by UH Mānoa’s Judith Lemus allows users to explore the Heʻeia fishpond through tours, photos, narration, natural history, culture and science.

I've made a Google Map with the current DASH tour locations! You can click on each pinpoint and a link will take you to the webpage for each individual building! A great way to "tour" Dickson on this rainy day (but I think you should go back when it's sunny again...)

It's National Public Health Week! Celebrate by taking a walk with DASH!

Since 1995, when the first full week of April was declared National Public Health Week (NPHW), communities across the United States have observed NPHW as a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation.

Spring is the perfect time to try out DASH Dickson, if you have not yet! All you need is a smartphone (download a free QR code scanner) and a friend. Look for the 9 DASH decals on buildings downtown and learn something new about Dickson's history! More buildings/sites will be added soon. There is always something new to discover!

In honor of the last day of Women’s History Month here is a local history tidbit:

Did you know that the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate was from Humphreys County? Hattie Caraway was elected the U.S. Senate on January 12, 1932.

Hattie Caraway attended Dickson’s Normal College beginning at age 15 and graduated in 1896 with a BA degree. She taught school in Hickman County prior to moving to Arkansas and entering public office. She served two 6-year terms and left the Senate in 1945. In 2001 the U.S. Postal Service paid tribute to her by placing her image on a 76 cent stamp.

Dickson County was honored to host the 2015 Class of Leadership Middle Tennessee participants this week. While these leaders were Downtown I had the privilege of leading them on a DASH tour down Main Street using our new maps!

We are so excited to show the awesome new DASH maps designed by Dickson native Rachel Gresham Design! These will be distributed to the Clement Railroad Museum and other downtown businesses this week...pick one up and get your DASH on!

Did you know that Dickson County is featured on the Tennessee Trails & Byways "Screaming Eagle Trail"? It is a journey through Middle Tennessee’s history, landscape, music and cuisine. The trail starts in Nashville and heads west, through charming small towns built by the iron industry in the 1800s. Along the way, learn about music, African-American heritage, Civil War stories, and more!

Inside the glass tower of Bridgestone Arena, visitors can talk with Music City experts for “inside” tips; pick up brochures, maps and coupons; shop for souvenirs; and buy tickets for attractions.

The gorgeous church inside Montgomery Bell State Park in Dickson...the birthplace of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

We gathered at the church grounds to celebrate Christmas 1800s style! Complete with tours of the replica cabin and friends dressed in attire from that era. We sang classic Christmas carols in the church lit by candle light.
