Fantastical Woodwork and Fairytales

Fantastical Woodwork and Fairytales I make things out of other things and call it art because it feels like art when I create it. produce change within the same physical object.

Multimedia Artwork – Wood , Canvas and Gypsum
Each piece has a story. Quantum physics demonstrates that simply observing matter alters it in a perceivable way. And so I think creation is a function of both intention and environment. I enjoy creating objects because I enjoy watching what effect the process has on the outcome; how external effects (weather, mood, conversations, etc.) I look at crea

tion as a very experiential way of self-reflection. What happens while something is being made can completely alter the outcome. Further, even the outcome is transient, as everything functions in an always-changing context. In other words, everything has a story – my wood work is hardly an exception. Still, the story is ongoing; it will continue to develop and change as long as each piece exists. For me, creation is synonymous with “starting a storyline;” I gave it a base energy and tempo, somewhere from which it will continue to grow and change as it moves through other environments. Creation in a most general sense seems a lovely medium of experiences – emotional, physical and cognitive. It’s another form of story-telling. Here are some of the objects I have created which will by my own definition never be completely finished and will always be changing as they are relocated, observed and so long as whoever is regarding them is having feelings or thoughts. The fairytales for each of these pieces are an abstract reflection on my experience creating them.
