They may not remember every project we made together, but I will.
This is the heart of Rags to Riches…
It’s not just about furniture or making a profit.
It’s about what happens behind the scenes.
They don’t always help me - and truthfully, most days I’m out here doing it alone. Just a tired mama with a dream, paint in her hair, and a hundred things still undone.
But when they do?
It stops me in my tracks.
Because suddenly, it’s not just work anymore.
It’s a moment, a memory…
One I’ll carry long after the table is sold.
To others, it might look like just a couple of kids helping out.
But to them, it’s time with Mommy.
And to me, it’s everything.
These are the moments where they’re learning to be creative, to work hard, and to create something beautiful out of something forgotten.
They’re learning that just because something looks worn down or broken, doesn’t mean it’s beyond repair.
Just like in life - when something feels cracked, messy, or heavy, that doesn’t mean you walk away.
Sometimes, you roll up your sleeves, you take a deep breath, and you start gently piecing it back together.
Because with a little vision, and a whole lot of love, what once looked like the end of something can become the beginning of something so much more.
And when I see them standing beside the final piece,
beaming with pride over something they helped bring back to life…
This isn’t just another project, it’s part of our story.
We may be covered in sawdust, and there’s always a little mess being made…
but this?
This is the good stuff.
This is what I’ll remember one day,
when the house feels just a little too quiet.
When their hands are bigger.
When the business is still going — but they’re no longer small kids sitting beside me on the shop floor with paintbrushes.
They are my reason for it all.
And we’re always better when we’re together. 🩶
