When one dresser has 3” holes AND 4” holes because apparently consistent hardware spacing was too much to ask. 😂

Adjustable handles to the rescue 🙌 They fit both sizes, which meant no filling perfectly good holes, drilling new ones, or hunting down matching pulls in multiple sizes.

Sometimes the easiest solution really is just finding hardware that works with what’s already there.

How our furniture turns out as good as it does is honestly beyond us because this is pretty much what’s happening behind the scenes at all times. 😂

A little experience, a lot of figuring s**t out as we go, and an unreasonable amount of singing.

Sometimes furniture flipping looks like cute before-and-afters.

Sometimes it looks like coming straight from your real job, still in a dress, and immediately grabbing the sander. 😂

No outfit change. No transition period. Just straight into the garage and back to work.

And yes, aggressively hyping up your business partner while she sands is an essential part of the process. 💅🛠️

Work-life balance: questionable. Commitment: unmatched.

Apparently Marya has just been walking around KNOWING THIS while Heather had absolutely no idea. 🤯😂

That little mark on the rim of some spray cans? You can line the nozzle up with it to align the spray direction with the dip tube inside the can, which helps you get more product out—especially when the can starts getting low.

Naturally, this discovery resulted in immediately checking every spray can in the garage. 😂 And yep. THERE IT WAS.

And before anyone says “read the directions” — WE CHECKED. We couldn’t find a single mention of it on any of ours. 😂

Marya: apparently common knowledge.
Heather: LIFE-ALTERING INFORMATION.

Furniture flipping is apparently just discovering increasingly obscure information that one of us assumed everyone already knew. 😂

There’s just something about a perfect tape pull. 😮‍💨👌

The clean lines. The crisp edges. And that tiny moment of panic when you start peeling and hope the paint actually stayed where it was supposed to. 😂

Before you toss that old gift card, throw it in your furniture flipping supplies instead. 😂

We’ve found at least 4 ways to put them to work.

And before anyone comes for us in the comments: yes, we know there are actual tools designed to do some of these things. Yes, some of those tools probably do it better. 😂

But sometimes you don’t have the right tool. Sometimes you don’t want to buy another tool. And sometimes the random piece of plastic sitting three feet away works perfectly fine.

Half of furniture flipping is just figuring out how to make what you already have work. 🤷‍♀️

Once you know what details to look for, furniture styles get SO much easier to recognize. 👀

We put together a quick cheat sheet for some of the styles we run into most often while furniture hunting — MCM, French Provincial, Art Deco, Traditional, Farmhouse/Country, and Campaign.

Knowing the style isn’t just fun trivia, either. It can help you figure out what might be worth grabbing, which original details are worth preserving, when that wood grain deserves to stay, and what direction to take a flip.

Of course, furniture loves to break the rules. 😂 Styles overlap, manufacturers borrowed from each other, and plenty of pieces don’t fit perfectly into one category.

So learn the clues, then look at the whole piece. 🔎
