Maddox Table Company was founded by William Maddox in 1898 in Jamestown, NY. The company manufactured many different types of pieces, but specialized in high quality secretary desks. They sold the company and changed names a couple different times over the years until production of their furniture finally ceased in 1985.

Fun fact: William Maddox also invented the reclining rocking chair 🤯 (pic included)

This is one of our favorites!!

This end table was in someone’s trash in Drexel Hill last month - the last couple pics are what it looked like. Upon further inspection we found the plaque inside says J.B. Vansciver Co, which we of course immediately googled!

J.B. Van Sciver was a furniture company founded in Camden NJ in 1881 by Joseph Bishop Van Sciver, and was later taken over by his sons. They had locations in Allentown, Lancaster, Wilmington, and Trenton. As a matter of fact, the Lancaster store was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986! The company filed for bankruptcy in 1983 and officially went out of business in 1985, over 100 years after being founded
