A good Revit family should do more than look like the product. It should help the architect use it.

That was the goal behind this manufacturer content library.

The batten systems were built around native Revit curtain wall behavior, with multiple sizes, horizontal and vertical configurations, adjustable spacing, height, offsets, and finish options. The plank systems were developed around familiar wall and ceiling workflows.

But the model was only part of it.

The same content also supports the drawings through profiles, detail components, repeating details, trim conditions, tags, and different levels of detail.

Because “parametric” shouldn’t just mean more parameters.

It should mean giving designers the right controls to make real project decisions without rebuilding the product every time.

Manufacturer BIM content should reduce work. Not create more of it.

Before RVT Workshop, there was the design process.

This project, VertiCali, was developed as a student competition entry exploring how vertical farming could become part of the city—combining food production, education, public space, landscape, structure, and infrastructure into one system.

The tools were different then. The thinking was not.

The project moved through:

* Site analysis
* Form studies
* Physical massing models
* Sectional and structural development
* Program organization
* Facade and environmental studies
* Final visualization

That same process still informs how I approach work today through RVT Workshop:

Understand the problem.
Develop the idea.
Coordinate the pieces.
Communicate it clearly.

Today, RVT Workshop applies that thinking through Revit and BIM—helping teams improve standards, build better models, create usable content, and develop clearer documentation.

From inspiration to something you can actually build.

This entertainment wall started with a few inspiration images and a pretty simple idea: create a feature behind the TV that feels more intentional than mounting it directly to the existing wall.

The concept developed into a full-height accent wall that projects from the existing wall, creating depth and giving the TV its own architectural backdrop. The lower console remains a separate piece of furniture, so the built element can read as part of the room rather than as oversized cabinetry.

From there, the design had to move beyond the inspiration image and into framing. I modeled the wall to work through the overall proportions, TV height, projection from the existing wall, stud layout, and the support needed behind the finished surface. The framing plan became the bridge between the original inspiration and something that could actually be constructed.

That’s one of my favorite parts of the design process—taking an image or an idea, figuring out what makes it work visually, and then working backward to determine how to build it.
