Seating for guests is the thing every small apartment is quietly failing at, and the reason is floor, not money.

One of these chairs is 18.1 inches wide and 18 inches deep. Multiply: 326 square inches. Divide by 144: 2.3 square feet.

Stack four of them and you are standing on roughly one chair's footprint, not four — about that same 2.3 square feet, in a closet, behind a door, beside a shelf.

That is the entire case for stacking chairs in a rental. You are hosting twice a year. You are walking through that room every single day. Furniture that only earns its floor space two days out of 365 is a bad trade, and you were sold it as a normal one.

One thing we will not tell you, because we do not publish it: how tall the stack is. Measure the clear height where you plan to put them first.

Each chair stands 31 inches tall. The set is $166.99, which works out at $41.75 a seat, and clears the $120 free shipping line.

The most common curtain problem in a rented apartment is a subtraction nobody shows you.

Ready-made panels are most commonly sold at 84 inches and 96 inches. A standard ceiling is 8 feet, which is 96 inches.

Every styling photo you have ever seen mounts the rod high, just under the ceiling, because that is what makes a window look tall. Do that with an 84-inch panel and the hem finishes twelve inches above the floor.

96 minus 84. That is the whole story.

An 84-inch panel is not a bad panel. It is cut for a rod mounted just above the window frame — which, conveniently, is where the previous tenant's bracket holes already are.

So you have two honest options. Buy 96-inch panels and hang them high. Or hang the rod at the frame, use the holes that exist, and stop apologising for it.

What does not work is buying the short panel and hanging it in the tall position, which is what the internet quietly asks you to do

Rental bathrooms fail for one reason: everything in them is the same material.

Same glaze on the floor, same glaze up the wall, same white porcelain in three shapes. No wood, no fabric, no colour, nothing that absorbs a sound. And most leases won't let you change any of it.

So people give up on the room entirely, which is fair.

Removable tile is the one move that's designed to come back off — the word is in the product title. But it comes with a trap, and the trap is arithmetic nobody does for you.

These tiles are 5 inches by 5 inches. That's 25 square inches each. A square foot is 144 square inches. 144 divided by 25 is 5.76.

So a square foot of wall takes almost six tiles. A strip behind a sink two and a half feet wide and a foot and a half high is 3.75 square feet — under four — and you can do that maths on your phone in the aisle, and you should, because we do not publish a coverage area for this listing. We publish the tile size. If a square-foot coverage number matters to you, work it out from the size we give you rather than trusting anyone's estimate, ours included.

This room isn't real.
And here's the part renders never admit: we could not build that room out of our own catalogue if we tried.
The whole store is nineteen products. Two floor lamps. Three end tables. Two TV stands. Two mirrors. Two jugs. And eight other things.
No sofa. No bed. No coffee table. No dining table. No curtains. The only rug we sell is 32 inches round and belongs on a bathroom floor.
So when a styled photo makes your apartment feel behind, understand what you're actually comparing yourself to: an image assembled from dozens of sources by people paid to assemble it.
That gap was sold to you. It isn't something you failed at.
Nineteen products. That's the whole shop. We'd rather you knew the size of us before you trusted the picture.
The room's a mood. The cart's the truth. We'd rather you know which is which

An honest inventory count, because it should change what you buy from us.
We sell nineteen things. Two floor lamps, two TV stands, three end tables, one nightstand, one bath rug, one throw blanket, two ceramic jugs, two arch mirrors, one piece of wall art, one set of four folding chairs, one counter-height bar chair, one set of peel-and-stick tiles, one decorative scale.
No sofa. No bed. No dining table. No living-room rug. No curtains.
Nineteen products cannot furnish a living room, and a shop this size that implies otherwise is just hoping you stop looking.
Here's how small catalogues get you, and it isn't your fault: the first piece fits, the second piece fits, and by the third you're six tabs deep and tired, so the third gets bought because it was there. That's the near-miss. It's the one that ends up facing a corner within a year.
Take the two or three of ours that genuinely match the measurements you took. Then go elsewhere for the rest, with our blessing.

Bedroom furniture is sold in pairs because a photograph looks better in pairs. Your room was never photographed. It was built.
In a lot of small rentals there is exactly one wall long enough to take a bed, and once the bed is there, one side of it is against plaster. Nobody chose that. The floor plan did.
A second nightstand on the wall side is three drawers you reach by climbing across the mattress, plus a wooden corner you catch your hip on for two years.
So buy one. It's the same nightstand — espresso, three drawers, listed at 19 inches — and one is $123.99 instead of $247.98 for the pair.
One also clears free shipping on its own, which is anything over $120.
Put your book, your phone and your glass of water on the reachable side, and nothing on the wall side, because there's nothing to put there.
That's one sale for us instead of two, and we'd still write the post.

Mirrors get sold as a lighting trick. They aren't one.
A mirror is a copy of whatever stands opposite it. Point it at a window and you get the window twice. Point it at a blank hallway wall and you get the blank hallway wall twice, in a heavier frame.
Most rental hallways have no window at all. That's the building, not your taste.
So, the honest version: if there is something worth reflecting across from where the mirror would go, buy the mirror. If there isn't, buy the flat piece.
The wall art is 24 inches by 24 inches and one inch deep, which matters in a hall you turn sideways to walk through.
We publish no depth at all for the mirrors. We should. Until we do, in a tight hall we'll point you at the thing we can measure.
Mirror $289.99. Wall art $258.99. We make $31 less on this advice and we'd still rather you take it

Renewal notice on the counter, thirteen days to answer it, and this is the exact week people panic-buy furniture to make an apartment feel like a decision they've already made.

Don't. Do the walk instead.

Take one lap of the place on a Saturday evening, with the lights on, and split everything that annoys you into two lists.

List one is the building. The single ceiling fixture. The windows that face north. The closet with no light in it. None of that is your taste or your effort — it was framed and wired long before your name went on the lease, and no purchase fixes it.

List two is furniture facing the wrong way. That list is always shorter than people expect, and most of it is free to solve on a Saturday.

If you re-sign, you'll know exactly which corner deserves the first spend. If you don't, you've dodged buying something sized for a room you're about to leave.

A furniture shop telling you not to buy furniture this week: yes. It's the only honest thing to say to someone holding a renewal notice

Someone is sleeping here for the first time in seventeen days, and the room they're sleeping in currently has a switch by the door and nothing else.

The number that decides this room is 15.75 inches — the published depth of the nightstand. It sounds like plenty until you put a table lamp on it, at which point the nightstand is a lamp stand and your guest's glass goes on the carpet.

So the light goes on the floor. That steel lamp is listed at 66 inches; the supplier publishes no other dimensions for it and we're not going to invent any. What we can tell you is that it doesn't spend the top of the nightstand.

The jug is 7.48 inches deep. 15.75 minus 7.48 leaves 8.27 inches of clear top — a glass, a phone, a pair of glasses.

One more piece of honesty while we're here: that jug is titled 14 inches. Its published height is 13.58. The title rounds. We don't.

1. the light. 2. the surface. 3. one thing on it. $184.99 + $123.99 + $86.99 = $395.97, ships free
