What a day, especially for the women runners who placed first overall in two of our four distances. Jessica Watychowicz blitzed our 25K course in 2 hours, 3 minutes, 43 seconds. And Emma Mathis, 17, of Columbus, Ga., won the 4-miler in 30:43.

Cheyenne Mountain Trail Race discounts!
It's race week at the Cheyenne Mountain Trail Race and we're set to go for our 15th running this Saturday, April 25.
This week we're offering big discounts on race registration, or even 100 percent comps, to three runners who can help us transport water to our South Aid Station at 1 p.m. (this Friday, 4-24)
We wheel the water out in utility wagons. Two hours, no more than 4 miles (two with a load). Pretty easy with runner muscle pushing and pulling. E-mail [email protected]. Thanks, and we'll see ya soon!

Hey hey. We have a few lost-and-found items. A lost pair of tights was also reported. We're on the lookout.

Many thanks to Lori Hawkins and the great Pikes Peak Road Runners' timing crew, and to all the volunteers! We had an AMAZING team this year. Foggy and damp to start the day, then we finished in the sunshine at Saturday's 15th Cheyenne Mountain Trail Race.

Howdy Runners!

Thanks for signing up to support Achilles Pikes Peak at the 14th Cheyenne Mountain Trail Race, this Saturday, Oct. 12th. When you run with us, you're helping athletes with disabilities to get out and enjoy the trails as we do.

Lots of info here, so give us a minute.

If you registered for the April race, fantastic! We're glad you're here with us in October. This info is for you:

If you picked up your race bib in April, great! Use it for Saturday's race.
If you registered but did not pick up your bib in April, please do so at packet pick-up on Friday or on Saturday morning.
If you picked up your bib and lost it, please e-mail raceresults@pprrun to request a new one.

Here is the plan for this year's race.

Friday, Oct. 11
Early packet pick-up: 2-6:30 p.m., The Colorado Running Company

Race Day, Saturday, Oct. 12
Packet pick-up: 7 a.m. at the start area.
50 / 25K Start: 8 a.m.
10K Start: 8:10 a.m.
4 Mile Start: 8:15

Find us: Cheyenne Mountain State Park is located at 410 JL Ranch Heights Rd., a few miles south of downtown Colorado Springs on Nevada Ave/Hwy 115.

Watch for the signs. Drive past the Visitors’ Center and Ranger Station (no need to stop, park fees are covered) and park in the big lot at the Limekiln Trailhead.

50/25K start: Both distances start at the same time.

We will use a self-seeded wave start to eliminate a bottleneck. Listen at the start line for instructions. It's easy.

Everyone line up on the west side of the starting line. You’ll run east into the parking lot and then up the entrance road for .25 miles. From there, you’ll hit the trail and the real fun begins.

10K (7 Mile) and 4 Mile: Runners line up on the east side of the starting line and run west. We will use a self-seeded wave start to eliminate a bottleneck. Listen at the start line for instructions. Anybody can do it.

And yes, our 10K is really about 7 miles. It just worked out that way.

Aid stations 25K and 50K course

A CHANGE: Our first aid station is moving to a location about 1.2 miles from the starting line. So, you'll hit it quickly. You'll have about a 4-mile run to the next aid station.

50K will have nine aid station stops. The 25K will have four aid stations.

Here are the miles between aid stations. From the start line.

1.2 miles to our North Aid Station on Cougar's Shadow
4 to Main Aid Station near the start/finish
2 to South Aid Station at Sundance/Talon intersection
5 around the Talons Loop and back to S. Aid Station
2 to Main Aid Station/finish

Aid stations 10K (7-mile) course
1.25 miles to South Aid Station
4 miles around the Talons loop and back to South Aid Station
2 to Finish

Aid stations 4 Mile
Hit it once at about 1.75 miles

The goods
We’ll have Gatorade and water, plus all the finest sugary and salty aid station cuisine to satisfy your caloric needs.

Course description: Cheyenne Mountain State Park has it all, open meadows, dark timber and miles of smooth, runnable trails with just enough rock-hopping to keep you awake.
Our courses include classic rolling foothills and long gentle climbs with a few short steeper sections. This really is a runner’s race, and we think you’re going to love it!

Drop Bags: Our drop bag area is located at our Main Aid Station, a short distance west of the starting line.

Cutoff: We're pretty fluid with the cutoff, but at 2 p.m. anyone moving slow at Mile 23 (Main Aid Station) will be asked to drop. The race officially ends at 4 p.m.

Pacers: Nah. Save 'em for Leadville.

The feed bag: Stick around and enjoy an excellent pasta salad from Roman Villa, our running community's favorite restaurant. And we'll have a lot more to fill you up before your journey home.

Dogs: Love 'em. But at Cheyenne Mountain State Park they're only allowed around the starting line area, and on a leash.

Questions: Give a shout, I probably forgot something. E-mail at [email protected]

Who's awesome?: You are. Thank you. See you on Saturday.
