Gonna be a long read

Today is a crazy awesome day! Today marks ten years since I started.....all this.

10 years.....wow.

Through sweat, backache, and a willingness to treat every job as if I was working on my own home, I have kept my babies fed and the lights on for 10 years.

Thank you to all of you that have supported me over the last decade. The likes, the kind words, the shares, hiring me to fix that and paint this.

I started this company after walking away from a guaranteed 40-50 hour a week paycheck, making ok money after a year and a half, the owner of the company expected me to be OK with having guys on my crew smoking m**h onsite during work hours(or at all). For those that don't know, I was stabbed in the neck by an individual high on m**h trying to rob the retail store I was managing at that time. Out of his mind high as a kite, stuck three inches of a four inch blade into my throat. That's why it sounds like a gargle with rocks..

I couldn't work with the public anymore so I went back to my roots and got a job with a painting company. The owner knew my past, my recent past at that time, and still he expected me to work with m**hheads.

So I walked out on a Tuesday standing on nothing but my morals, went home and felt sorry for myself Wednesday, then walked out the door Thursday morning starting Hire A Vet.

I had toddlers at home, a mortgage, a family relying on me, I had more responsibility than I had ever had, and I chose to walk away from a for sure weekly paycheck. 31 years old, starting over....again.

I prayed to God Wednesday night if he would just provide the opportunity for work, I was willing. Even if it was repinning floor joists in a spider infested crawlspace or working at the top of my 32' extension ladder or picking up after a client's dog or 300 miles from home, whether it was 110⁰ or 10⁰. I got all that and so much more. Praise God!

There were 18 hour days, work that took me away from home for weeks at a time, there were hot days and cold days and gross days, there were times I worked 40, 50 even 60+ days straight trying to meet deadlines. Through all the injuries and there were a fair few... For the very best of days and the very worst of days, thank You God. Thank You for providing the opportunity to work.

I might be a little slower today at 41, but I am still willing to put in the work.

10 years of new neighborhoods, new towns, new sights, new sounds, new people, new hole in the wall mom and pop restaurants, no two projects the same, new friends, and oh so many puppies!! Little puppies, big puppies, young puppies, old senior puppies, they are ALL puppies.. Dozens and dozens of attention starved cats and dogs lol. I was always happy to take time and love on them. The look of love a dog gives you and that purr can heal your heart and soul.

I am truly a blessed man.

Thanks y'all.

Here's to the next ten years. What can I make pretty again for you?

Love and God bless.

Still breathin! Still here!

Have had some health issues nonsense, but there has been work gettin done when I'm able. Socials have just taken a backseat.

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather and don't forget about taking care of your privacy fences. Lumber rots alot faster when it isn't cleaned and sealed on a regular basis, about every 2 years.

I do not use bleach, any conditioners, or detergents while pressure washing. Strictly water. I don't like putting chemicals into a client's grass, decorative plants, or near-by vegetable gardens which this clients has. Takes longer just using water sure, but it's worth it. I used Thompson's Waterseal to seal it a few days later after letting the fence dry out.

From my family to yours,

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

I know the date in the picture says 2014, your boy is great with a hammer and nails.....not so much computers and photoshop.....lol

I hope everyone had plenty of food and lots of laughs with loved ones yesterday. My momma made her first ever from scratch pecan (not P*E CAN) pie and it was delicious!!!

Last year I did the 'double the value of your deposit' and it was a success so I'm doing it again!!

From now until New Year's Eve, any deposit paid for the 2026 schedule will double in value!! $50 deposit for labor becomes $100. $1,000 deposit for labor becomes $2,000!!!

If you already know you want to repaint the exterior of your home or a new deck next spring, this is a great way to save!!

Realized I never shared completion pictures for the hot tub deck build. Turned out nice! Eleven additional 4x4 jack legs/supports on a 5" footer, notched and angle ironed to the deck for the hot tub. In other words, the homeowner can park his beautiful truck on there and it would be fine.

Replaced a badly sagging 2"x6" decking structure frame on that front porch out toward the Ocoee River. No before pictures, I just ripped it out. Was a 12'x20' porch with 2"x6" ledger boards and 2"x6" joists spaced 26"-32" apart. Far too little, too far apart. I know I'm a big fella, but I didn't feel comfortable walking across it. Now it's got 2"x10" ledgers and properly spaced 16" OC 2"x6" joists all with joist hangers. Previous build had a singular joist hanger... New deck has 28 joist hangers.

Working on cutting out and replacing degraded/cracked caulking around the windows and doors in an older home. Seal up those drafts! It's gonna be a cold winter I think.

When they ask if you can build a deck with additional supports for a massive hot tub.

Of course I can!!

You do and they love it, then they ask if you can build a cover for it.

Of course I can!!

You do and they love the cover, then ask if you can build a extension bigger than the original deck.

Of course I can!!

Repeat clients are the best!!

Next project is replacing three sides of soffits and fascia boards at my cousin's house. Already replaced 100% of the front, here we go on the rest of the house!!

It ain't the heat....it's the 94% humidity..like workin in a sauna..

Did you know, a 4 person hottub filled weighs approximately 4,500 lbs? Plus people..

Have to make sure the deck is properly supported.

14 years ago today God blessed me with the most awesome son, heir, and little buddy.

Alot of y'all have met my favorite apprentice, but in case you haven't. At almost 6 foot tall, he's not so little anymore, but he'll always be my baby boy.

Happy Birthday, Matthew!! You make me so proud every single day.

Today is the most expensive holiday.

Add up all the hotdogs, all the trips around the lake, all the fireworks, all the beer, and it will pale in comparison to what has been paid by the men and women that gave up their lives for this still great country.

Happy Memorial Day to all those that gave their lives for the freedoms so many take for granted every single day.

If you have two minutes today, go read the names of a few that paid that price for you.
