Gonna be a long read
Today is a crazy awesome day! Today marks ten years since I started.....all this.
10 years.....wow.
Through sweat, backache, and a willingness to treat every job as if I was working on my own home, I have kept my babies fed and the lights on for 10 years.
Thank you to all of you that have supported me over the last decade. The likes, the kind words, the shares, hiring me to fix that and paint this.
I started this company after walking away from a guaranteed 40-50 hour a week paycheck, making ok money after a year and a half, the owner of the company expected me to be OK with having guys on my crew smoking m**h onsite during work hours(or at all). For those that don't know, I was stabbed in the neck by an individual high on m**h trying to rob the retail store I was managing at that time. Out of his mind high as a kite, stuck three inches of a four inch blade into my throat. That's why it sounds like a gargle with rocks..
I couldn't work with the public anymore so I went back to my roots and got a job with a painting company. The owner knew my past, my recent past at that time, and still he expected me to work with m**hheads.
So I walked out on a Tuesday standing on nothing but my morals, went home and felt sorry for myself Wednesday, then walked out the door Thursday morning starting Hire A Vet.
I had toddlers at home, a mortgage, a family relying on me, I had more responsibility than I had ever had, and I chose to walk away from a for sure weekly paycheck. 31 years old, starting over....again.
I prayed to God Wednesday night if he would just provide the opportunity for work, I was willing. Even if it was repinning floor joists in a spider infested crawlspace or working at the top of my 32' extension ladder or picking up after a client's dog or 300 miles from home, whether it was 110⁰ or 10⁰. I got all that and so much more. Praise God!
There were 18 hour days, work that took me away from home for weeks at a time, there were hot days and cold days and gross days, there were times I worked 40, 50 even 60+ days straight trying to meet deadlines. Through all the injuries and there were a fair few... For the very best of days and the very worst of days, thank You God. Thank You for providing the opportunity to work.
I might be a little slower today at 41, but I am still willing to put in the work.
10 years of new neighborhoods, new towns, new sights, new sounds, new people, new hole in the wall mom and pop restaurants, no two projects the same, new friends, and oh so many puppies!! Little puppies, big puppies, young puppies, old senior puppies, they are ALL puppies.. Dozens and dozens of attention starved cats and dogs lol. I was always happy to take time and love on them. The look of love a dog gives you and that purr can heal your heart and soul.
I am truly a blessed man.
Thanks y'all.
Here's to the next ten years. What can I make pretty again for you?
Love and God bless.
