My Passion for Baking
I have always loved making things from scratch. I love watching baking shows and seeing the beautiful creations people make and it blows my mind the recipes they come up with and the flavors they create just from their own imagination. For me I’m just really good at following recipes. I especially love to bake for other people, it brings me so much joy to hear someone say mmmmm!
While I do sometimes cheat and use box cake, I really like to make everything from scratch because not only does it taste better but there is just more love in it. For years I have kept ingredients in my house to at least make a batch of cookies when I feel like it. My best friend, who is not a baker, was visiting me one day and we decided we needed cookies. So we went in the kitchen and I started looking through my cabinets to see what we could come up with and I pulled out everything needed for snickerdoodles, which really isn’t that much. However, my non-baking friend was in awe of the cookies I was able to magically whip up and those cookies have always been a favorite of anyone I make them for.
Within the past couple of years I have dabbled in painting and drawing trying to find an outlet for my creative side and a hobby as it seems I have finished going to school (for now). Just in the last year I started learning how to decorate cakes, partly to save money on my kids birthday cakes but mostly because it’s fun. I started with cupcakes for the birthday parties and then started making cakes as gifts for people.
The more I made cakes and started challenging myself the more people said you should sell these. I kept saying no because as it is with I would imagine most artistic people I’m never satisfied with what I make and I didn’t believe I was good enough to sell cakes. Well apparently I was wrong because low and behold people started ordering things when I wasn’t even advertising.
