This stool belonged to my great grandfather. I found it in my basement years ago when I started building my shop. When I found the stool I thought it was a piece of crap destine for the trash. Then my father informed me that it was my great grandfathers and that he remembered his grandfather (my great grandfather) using the stool. Once I heard that I inspected it further and realized that it was a heavy duty, well built, one of a kind piece of furniture. It just needed some TLC. So I disassembled the whole base of the stool and chucked the wooden seat in the trash. I then sand blasted all the metal, painted it, and reassembled it. That was the easy part. Then it was onto the wooden seat. The seat started with 8/4 book matched black walnut and curly maple. Once I had the seat glued up, sanded, cut into a circle, and routed I then inlayed the state of Ohio into the walnut center with a router and a lot of patience. Lastly I used a laser to engrave Cincinnati, Ohio, the skyline, and the star into the maple part of the seat. This stool should last for many more generations and hopefully somewhere down the road someone else will refurbish it and make it their own as I have.
