BASE Sessions Body Work BASE is a series of choreography exhibitions. These Sessions incorporate performance, workshops, video, and material research.

BASE is the curation of choreography which reflects the specific nature of the medium. BASE seeks to construct a viewing experience that promotes the consideration of choreographic works as artworks, but disrupts traditional relationships between viewer and objects, spectator and performer. Choreography implies the intentional construction of relationships of bodies to space, architecture, other b

odies, and viewers. BASE explores the multitude of possibilities for a choreography of the viewing experience. BASE Sessions are experimental choreographic exhibitions that work towards the creation of an embodied viewership. This means disrupting the primacy of sight by expanding conventional “viewership” toward an experiential model. BASE Sessions situate the viewer as a sensing body, rather than a pair of eyes, and the act of perception as a form of engaged participation. Each BASE Session incorporates workshops, printed matter, performance, film, sound, and lectures. BASE: Session I will take place over the course of ten days, from October 3 -13, 2013, at Human Resources in Los Angeles, CA. Human Resources is an art venue whose mission is to broaden public engagement with experimental, interdisciplinary and conceptual art and foreground underexposed modes of expression. For the duration of the exhibition, Human Resources will be divided into multiple, continuously shifting interiors that will support works from a selection of artists. These mobile skeleton structures become evolving organs examining the conscious and unconscious potentialities of the body, performance, and perception.

DYING--
THE SKIN is the only thing that keeps us from feeling the pain of others. mirror neurons allow us to feel empathy. The skin acts as a check for the mirror neurons, communicating to our brains that we are not the other, reaffirming our boundary. In the case of phantom limbs or flayed skin, the mirror neurons are not checked by the boundary of the skin and one experiences the physical pain of the other.
The skin operates as a bio-feedback regulator that reassures us that we are not the other. Without skin we are.
ALSO--
Around 50 minutes this sexy genie talks about Apotemnophilia where a patient wants a part of the body removed or amputated because they feel it is INTRUSIVE and overly determining of their form.
Not to mention the ways in which this research supports intimacies with objects and the constant shifting of our bodily boundaries. Intention is key in redefining and gaining ownership over the ways in which we construct our sense of self and our body image.
Disregard his title "Illusions and Delusion" unless we can just get down with the fact that all forms are fictions, are plastic, are constructed, that there is no proper organization.
