That beautiful piece of Bocote I mentioned a few days ago? Using a piece of 50 # fishing braid (sized to allow for incorporating some sapwood for contrast) and a couple of tacks as the foci, I laid out an ellipse, which I then cut on my bandsaw, cleaned up on my disc sander and then routed. Once I sand lightly and finish with tung oil, it’ll serve as my wife’s bathtub wine/food/book/iPad/candle table.

After having some workshop fun with my boys, thought I’d have a little more fun myself late last night roughing out this Dark Eyed Corrugata Burl hollow form to roughly 1/2” (or a bit less) thickness. Now it’ll go into my homemade kiln for a month or two for drying - and most importantly- stress relieving.
